What worries me is that the "average Joe" out there seems to know virtually nothing about Conficker and the fact it's set to possibly do dirty work on April Fool's Day means alot of people think it's some stupid hoax or prank when you try to tell them about it.

I have no idea if it will actually be a problem, but if it is, I think more people than usual will have to deal with it because of the tie to April Fools Day.

I remember when I use to have to worry about viruses, spyware, worms, etc. I hope a lot of people get infected because there isn't much going on the news right now. And if you get it, you deserve it - harsh but true.

you know, I called my bank (Chase) today and they told me all their systems were down and they weren't able to login and check my account and I'd have to call back later. It got me thinking, did Conficker hit already? Hah, I hope not!

My parents were freaking out last night - Mike, are all of our computers going to get the new worm?

What a joke - It's April Fools Day FFS...just don't download anything you aren't supposed to and you are good. Virus scan everything, get NoScript for your browser...pissing me off.

Read that if you go to www.F-Secure.com and can navigate that site you are not infected.

I read that microsoft is behind it and they want to do some serious damange and some massive changes on how the internet works by infecting their own created PCs, in a way that people won't notice and the blame goes to "hackers".

Sounds like a cool theory, I can't wait to see what happens.
Luckily I am on linux atm.

That's what one would call a conspiracy theory. I did hear from somewhere that Microsoft released SP3 for XP so people's computer's would deteriorate and they'd reformat and buy Vista...that's also a conspiracy theory, and I doubt it's true, because SP3 worked fine for me till I reformatted (my choice; computer wasn't deteriorating)...anyways, I use SP2 now just in case. ;)

I think this is really interesting.
One question I have though is who made up the idea that they would do it on April Fools?
Did someone in there organization actually clue to this day?

Well I am glad that I recently switched to Linux. Though it had nothing to do with Conficker. I just got fed up with windows crashing on me at least twice a day LOL.

Now if the marketing software developers would only make Linux apps I could completely wash my hands of Microsoft.
