"I don't think" from the post in question shows that this is his opinion or experience thus far. It does not state a fact... and for the sake of provoking thought, the very first thing mentioned is that he has also seen domains with dashes rank well. Which would invalidate google not "liking" them in the first place, right?
Anyway, back to the actual topic of the thread.

I agree with the earlier post - these domains have zero inherent value. Build something great and then they become valuable (actually the sites that are on them become valuable).
