This is wrong on so many levels it's hard to comprehend. Having just watched a video of a dog being shot for little to no reason-- hell, these days the cop's argument could have been "The dog didn't take his anti-depressants and well... he shot himself." People would believe that shit. Their word is as infallible as the pope's (who shouldn't have such power either but that's a different discussion.) I'm not one of these people screaming "Police state!!" and then settling back in front of the couch to finish the football game or whatever it is typical sub-standard americans do with their time. I'm not screaming "Police state!!" at all, because it will immediately take away from any valid points that are made. All I'm saying is that any rational being analyzing what's occuring on the streets of the unites states will reel with disgust and thoughts of injustice. Sadly, if anything was going to done to curtail the unquestionable authority of the police it would have taken place by now. Consequences do not exist for them, except in rare circumstances. This is coming from someone who actually recognizes the need for a police force to keep shitty people in line and arrest real criminals, I've have only one oppressive encounter with the police (and it earned me roughly $150 on YT :).

I think this is a good thing. For example instead of just crowding around the police officer who is brutally beating someone like a gang of high schoolers watching a fight, cameras pointed to capture the action. Humanity may now be restored in these crowds when their phones have been rendered useless, and instead of just posting on YouTube later... they MIGHT actually try to overpower the corrupt and brutal police who we outnumber 10,000 to 1 in the moment when it actually matters. But that's just my naive optimism.

Yeah, exactly.. That's all that'll happen anyways. Someone will create an app to detect if and when it's being used and scramble the signal.

The problem here is the "blame culture",
    Everyone wants to BLAME someone,
and if anyone steps outta line, then they will feel the full
force of the law, and by the law.

The Police have to defend themselves from constant harrassment by the media,
and have to justify their actions in front of a world media.
    Therein lies the real problem.

Would it not be better to have the resouces of the police and government officials
directed at keeping everyone within the law, than spending millions trying to defend their actions
by a trial by youtube etc...

We have only ourselves to blame, if we really looked at the bigger picture.

For those who are narrow minded enough to believe all this, then simply vote with your wallet,
and DO NOT buy Apple products if it really bothers you that much.

Simple solution: don't buy apple products. They're outdated tech anyway.

You actually have quite a good point, although my situation was entirely different. I used to film skateboarding as a hobby (was hopeful to make a living from it) and the cop just snatched my camera by the lens. Vx1000s are very fragile. Broke my camera. :'( You do have a very valid point though, I'm tired of seeing fight videos where people are just cheering on and filming-- that shit is sad. The worst one which is pretty unrelated to this topic was some guy filmed a girl jump off a building and instead of calling the police to try and save her from suicide he was just shouting "Worldstar" at her. THAT's fucked.

If an Apple Executive were found dead under a bridge, bound with duct tape, they'd change their mind.
