I couldn't believe my eyes when I seen someone post that second life actually converts it's play money into to real USD... You can just exchange you ingame cash for money... I think the current conversion is like $1000 Linden (play money) = $4.02 USD?

You can buy land and put your put incentives in for users to complete your CPA offers... you can hire strippers and dancers, but games for users to play and pay for. It's virtual it's own small scale casino. I think I spent about $5 usd just to get some start up cash and I spent it super fast. I see allot of ewhores in there making a killing. There are huge adult themed places with hundreds of active people running about... I smell a cash cow.

I'm interested in finding ways to monetize this since it's relativity new territory (apparently 2nd life just started allowing links out to other websites from their gui back in March). I seen one popular piece of land had given out over "$52k" in fake money to users who filled out surveys at $75 fake dollars a pop... While the person who's affiliate link they used... Well you can imagine.

I'm relativity new to the whole thing but I've learned quit a bit. I'm intrested in building objects, scripting and avatar design as well. Does anyone have a premium membership? Making any revenue? Do share and experience.

I have a pretty good idea for a site/store if there's a user in here interested in helping me out with the idea PM me. I have experience skinning 3d models, making objects ect.

I would also be interested in helping with this project, I was reading a article a couple years back about some people who own over 100k USD worth of property in that game. That is some serious dough...

Crazy shit, just read up on a bunch of different cash tactics pertaining to this. I knew the ewhoring in SL was going on already but this is a new opportunity in my eyes.

I agree. I would love to read an articles you've found if you don't mind sharing

As for being a waste of time, well I'm not so sure about that but you could be right. I want to run a few ideas through it before I can it as a waste. It's complex but I'm going to give you a small report on what I've found.

Before you read any of it though I do recommend watching this small clip from "The Office". The first time I ever heard about this software was right here in this clip. I think I caught this episode during the writers strike...

    hxxp://youtube.c0m/watch?v=U3d_fqDcN1s

So it was really hard to keep my composure while flying around... Seriously.

When you first start out in Second Life (which from now on will be reffered to as SL) you have to complete a series of tutorials, 4 to be exact. They basically show you how to move about the world and interact with objects. How to fly, how to drive, how to activate object menus and what not. After completing these simple tasks, you are given the keys to the city so to speak.

Upon entering the world you'll notice it's pretty vast. Zoom out of your map as far as you can to get an idea. Also when searching for anything notice the traffic. For your first mini tour of the place just visit the most populated place you can find.

You start of with $0 cash. The virtual world has it's own currency in the form of Linden (referred to as $L). If you decided to get a premium membership off the bat (not recommended) then you start out with money I guess but I wouldn't bother at this point. Just go in to get an idea of the traffic.

In response to the comment above, I think that anyone would tell you that using strictly black hat tactics is a waste. White or black a tactic is a tactic and you should be using all of yours.

Basically what your going to find here is that your strapped or broke. Everyone you see, anywhere, has spent real money buying something in SL. That much is guaranteed. How? Well you've already got that figured out by now... if not (or you where to lazy to download the program) here's why...

Linden converts into USD$ at a rate. All $L (fake money can be converted back into USD and be sent back to your paypal account).

Basically (as of now) $1 us dollar converts into $184 Linden dollars.

Now if your in SL in a populated place you'll notice that most of these places have all sorts of ways for you to make fake money. That's why there so popular and they get all the traffic. Of course the great thing here is that they have over 10 people in there trying to make fake money at all times. Most places pay users $75 linden dollars to complete a CPA offer through there "ATM free money machines)... $75 linden dollars is eqaul to 0.59 USD.
I'll take that thank you very much. Here' your .59 cents... Here's my $2.74.
Oh you want to keep going? You mean I can advertise this as a job to thousands of people that WANT to do it all day? I think buying land isn't a half bad idea at this point.

I've also seen some awesome money made on landsales. That's just in two days of snooping around. They go for $1000 in most cases from what I've seen but they sell out to fast. Haven't had much of a chance to look into it but bet your ass that's what I'll be focusing on next. The high price land like that is like an old domain that had allot of traffic so think of it like that. You can buy land super cheap and make it valuable and re-sell it.

This report is a very basic outline of ideas. It would take a bit of work to get something going. You would need good background in graphic design, web design and a bit of 3d render to make a real killing so if you've got a bit of that paired with some marketing skills you could make out like a bandit. Luckily I have a good background in design and code. I also played allot of "Sims" and made items so this is a cake walk.

Oh and did I forget to mention the ewhores? I'm not a fan but if that's your cup of tea, then you're in luck. It's pretty much OK to do whatever you want. Your niche is good to go there. I don't care how sick it is you can market it... and do it successfully. It's much to vast to go into but just to give you a general idea, you can do what most of these people do. Make an attractive AV and get paid to escort or whatever. Ya that's a great way to get people to scrap you some fake internet money that you can later convert to usd.. about enough to get you a pop. I could be wrong here but I doubt it pays crap. I hear some people get guys to sign up for their cam offers but honestly who falls for that these days? Not worth it. So what do you do with all these horny men lingering in the sex clubs on SL? Build your own. You can charge people whatever you want and you can do whatever you want. The money is in land. Build a place, get some aff offers in for your visitors to sign up for. Chances are they already used thier credit card or paypal to buy that goofy avatat thier sporting. Pay them fake money or offer them "girls" give them incentive.. Be creative. As I said it's to vast but your wheels have to be turning by now. You'll likely have 1 competitor but hey it's no fun with out competition.

The user base is not just growing steadily... much faster. Go look at how many active users they have.

Before I make any kind of moves I'm going to research a bit more. I'll continue to update this thread with anything new I find if anyone is interested.

Please post any links to helpful articles, or post any ideas or experiences you've had. Oh and if you don't have an account, be super sweet sign up using me as your reffer =D

I had the chance to mess with second life for a week few months ago and I can tell you that there is a lot of ways to make money on second life. But i'll just explain some of the ways I noticed.

    ATM free money machines

As azrail said, these are sort of like slot machines where the users would go up and they will be taken to a web page(second life minimizes and browser loads), there u have them fill out a survey from an affiliate. You get paid around $2.50 while you pay the user 200 lindens which equals to around $1.08. So you profit around 1.50$... now times that by 200 surveys solved a day and you have 300$ profit daily. Before you do any of this, you have to learn how second life development side works and setup a place with all ur machines.

    Properties
Basically you do what you would do in real life. You buy land, build homes/businesses on it and sell them at profit. You can become a designer and sell building/home designs, etc etc...list goes on.

    Sex Sells
You make a character as a hot chick and look for men who are willing to pay for sex :p Say they pay 200 lindens for 5 minutes and you have sex with 30 mens daily, you made $32.00. Now multiply that with 20 bots and you got 640$. There is a third party api for second life and I have seen someone bot spam someones business and all i can say is that it made my high end computer lag lol. Or you could just outsource to 20 people and give them like 30% so your profit would be around $448. Ok I'll confess that I did try this and thats why I know it works :p

    Gambling/Casino Machines

Well this was the reason why I first got into second life. There was money to be made from them but before I was 50% done with all the building/coding, second life announced that they have banned gambling/casino from second life. You can blame that dickhead sitting in Washington. Well this is when i decided drop the second life project because I was working on other projects at that time.

    Referral Commission

I forgot how this works but I think they second life pays you 200 linden or something, i think its more if they convert to paid member.

These are just some of the ways I came crossed but there are alot of ways if you look around.

Having said that, if any of you need any help or have any question, just pm me ;)

Nice report Sj101... If your still interested in starting something up, I'm down. I need a partner. I want to utilize all of the ideas you've stated above in one place. Get a large property and offer all of thee above. Will pay "girls out in lindens", sell avatars (because I can make them) and I will design our machines. The SL scripting is super easy if you have a programming background. Besides it's really not even coding all you have to do is script the machine to pop up a browser page. Gambling is still apart or second life. Zyngo machines... nuff said.

Your right about having the background, you do need it, I have it and it sounds like you do too. Maybe we should work something out? SL is getting bigger by the day and allot of companies left an allot of fortune 500 companies are looking to advertise.... Let's take advatage of it now.

I heard allot of business left due to the gambling and copyright stuff that SL implemented. That means there is allot of good land out there and allot of users that are desperate for ways to make fake money to buy those silly avatars... So coming with me?

I have to admit that I am amazed by you guys as this is quiet creative. If I only had the time. Lets see how long it takes for someone to come up with a ebook on this.

I once had a few ATMs setup that would give out free lindens for completing my CPA offers :) I've since abandoned that project, it's tough to find good advertisement spots, other than renting booths in public areas.

I would like to get in on a project where we can have a clan or a group of people together to market and run businesses in SL. I'm a noob to SL but I think with a big enough group doing multiple things, we can make a decent buck. The only problems I see are in the money management side (I bought 400 lindens and they were gone when I logged in, all 5 of us made $1000 USD, it's all gone now and I didn't get any of it, etc.)

    replace X's with T's, remove X's, etc...

Make that link work.... LOL This is posted elsewhere on the forum. I recommend reading where to get the free stuff, make it LOOK like you spent money on the damn game.

I've never tried SL, but curious also.... Probably so time-consuming
