Hi - I have a large list of emails that I want to send....

I have researched and it seems that PHP List might be a good solution.

If you have used PHP List (PL) before can you let me know your experience? Also - what hosting is best for PL - would you suggest a VPS in the EU to increase inbox success?

Is there a host that you would recommend or suggest?

It seems that of your cpanel has Fantastico then it is a lot easier to install PL.

THANKS!!!

I've used PHPlist for about 1000 recipients. Thats not really much. It is powerful, but you have to change a lot of stuff in the option an patch out a lot stuff to have a nice script. And you have to do this again and again for every new version.

There are a lot (paid) services on the net who provide you a much better interface and you don't have to worry about hosting and stuff like this.

PS: Don't use installers like "fantastico". It's not really nice to update apps later and they aren't using the best settings very often.

I've tried a ton of the open source mailing solutions and none of them work for what I need. I just use SendBlaster 2 as my mailing software and Elastic Email for my cloud SMTP relay.

Exactly. There is also "Super Mailer". But you need a hosting provider who allows you to send mass emails in these amounts.

I use PHPlist to send emails to various targetted email lists that I have. I don't send massive amounts currently. My biggest list has about 12000 email addresses and I tend to only email it once per month. As long as you have an unsubscribe link in the footer (and actually honour unsubscribe requests when people click it!!) you should be ok at most hosts if you have it on a dedicated server. I haven't used shared hosting for years but I think rules are usually different.

I am told Interspire is the real tool to use for this job but I like the fact that PHPlist is free :-)
