Wow, they are gonna contact the webmasters to remove the link?
I doubt that's effective. I mean, imagine contacting thousands of webmasters to delete. I doubt most of them would even bother if they let their site get spammed in the first place.

Might as well flood your accumulated backlinks with generic anchor texts.

Well I'm trying it out. I was doing it manually myself but it's too hard work.

Also as I understand, google will accept a best effort report even if all links aren't removed- and this site say they offer full report.

I am trying it on recommendation from a user from here in another one of my posts.

I know this is Bhw, and this tactic maybe goes against the grain, but I'm interested to see if this will get my penalty lifted.

    So, let's see.

Let us know how it goes. I haven't heard much about the service and not sure if it has a good success rate. I had bookmarked it a while back which is why I came here to find some reviews lol.

^^ ah yes, I remember that thread.
Well there is mixed opinion, but I think it's worth a go.

I'll let you guys know how it goes - at the minute they are building a list of bad links, then I can apparently confirm which ones I want them to try and remove.

As the thread you linked states, they are only sending emails, basically, but it's time consuming - I started doing it myself but it just takes too long.

Also they are compiling reports that I can send to google, so I think it's worth a go.

As I said, I will keep a progress report on this thread.

Update: Had my first removal list delivered by link delete.com a few weeks ago.

Work was very good, I received a comprehensive report and also some advise on how to approach resubmission to Google.

I submitted request to Google, but received a very generic response:

We've processed your reconsideration request for [website-address]

We received a request from a site owner to reconsider how we index the following site:
    [website-address]

We've now reviewed your site. When we review a site, we check to see if it's in violation of our Webmaster Guidelines. If we don't find any problems, we'll reconsider our indexing of your site. If your site still doesn't appear in our search results, check our Help Center for steps you can take.

I will keep an eye on rankings over the next week and update if I see any change.

I figured I'd chime in as well since I have used linkdelete as well for several different projects.

To give you a bit of history I had a few websites that were hit by Google's blog network deindexings back in February March April of this year. I used those type of services extensively and they were working well, until they got crushed. Next thing you know, my websites no longer ranking and I've got an unnatural link warning on several websites. I was told by many people to hold tight and ride it out. Unfortuantely I listened and nothing happened for a few months. I decided waiting around wasn't gonna do anything and wanted to figure out my options. After a bunch of research I noticed that linkdelete was being recommended over and over as a solution by seomoz and a few other big name seo sites. I figured what the hell and decided to try them out for one site.

After signing up linkdelete.com provided me with a full in depth backlink report that was sorted by quality score. Essentially they created a scoring system for each backlink and helped identify those backlinks that were most likely causing a penalty. After a little bit of back and forth we finally agreed on the links that should be removed. From this point you basically just have to wait until linkdelete.com delivers the final report. That's fine as I had already waited this long and I wanted to make sure they did a thorough job.

Finally I received my final report the first month, they removed close to 500 backlinks the first month alone! That's a huge number and I wasn't even expecting half of that. I figured at this point it would be worthwhile to get the ball rolling with my reconsideration request with Google and filed a reconsideration request with the report they provided me. From this point I decided that it'd be wise to continue with linkdelete but I wanted more links removed this upcoming month. i worked out a custom pricing plan with them and had them work on removing 2,500 backlinks that second month.

Sure enough, Google denied my reconsideration request the first month. But linkdelete reassured me that this was typical. Thankfully by the time Google had responded with their denial linkdelete was about done with month 2's report. After receiving the second report from linkdelete they managed to remove about 1,500 links the second month. Now we were a little over 2,000 spammy links removed at this point. I filed another update to my reconsideration, providing the second report and detailed the additional work completed.

At this point Google removed the penalty! I was actually jumping up and down after I had received the notice. People at the restaurant thought I was nuts, but that meant I finally had figured out how to get rid of these bullshit penalties and start making money again.

Overall i'm pleased with the results, I've since worked with them on two other projects and will be starting another one with a client soon. For a backlink removal service they are the most thorough and best priced I've seen being offered. I guess if anyone has questions about my experience feel free to ask or pm me. I'd be happy to help out as i know what its like to deal with these penalties.
