Anyone understand video editing and file size?

I'm not sure where to post so here goes.


I've been working on some video footage that I shot. The finished edit is about an hour long and there are no special effects. Just a handful of cuts.

The problem is that the video is 6 gig using H.265 at 1080p

Is there a way to get the video down to less than 2gigs without losing quality or dropping it down to 720p?

That will reduce the quality and cause the video and sound to go out of sync.

Send video to youtube and download xD
but 100% you will loose the quality

Use Handbrake to encode video and reduce size.

It only shaved a few hundred meg.

Compress it more. Most programs like adobe premiere should have compression sliders where you can choose how much to compress.
In after effects / media encoder, adjust the "bitrate" slider down.

You can use h.264 instead of h.265 maybe it could bring it down more.

Since you're using h.265, which results in pretty much the smallest file size you can get, 25-50% smaller than if you'd use the still popular h.264, you won't be able to reduce file size by much without sacrificing the quality. The only thing that would significantly reduce the file size, is decreasing the bitrate, but that would reduce quality, what you don't want. You can still try it, unless it's already too low. Try to reduce it to 2,000-3,000 kbps, that should bring down the file size below 2GB.

For instance if you check it here: https://rarbg.to/torrents.php?category[]=54, these are movies in 1080p resolution using h.265. All of them are below 2GB, more like 1-1.5GB and those aren't an hour long, but usually an hour and half. If you check the bitrate via Mediainfo, it's usually around 2,000 kbps and they look perfectly fine.
You can look into other details, what you can see under Mediainfo there and try to replicate those parameters, when you're recording/encoding your videos.

use encoding or other video edit software's like handbrake is the good one , but losing the size would cost you quality loss !
