So, anyone been able to get your old ranks back to a new domain by 301-ing the pandalized one?

I'll probably try that on a couple of domains that got hit.

No. We ran a case study against 60 sandboxed domains, redirecting 5-20 PR3+ domains to each. None recovered due to the 301 redirection.

We were able to recover some later via high PR link building, but not with enough reliability to claim it as a viable method.

Ive had some odd experiences with 301's. I have fully recovered 2 domains from what seemed like onpage content penalties by using 301's and bolstering the content. These recoveries have lasted for months. My sites hit by panda have been harder. 1 site didn't recover at all. The 2nd site though I have redirected 3 times and each time it will be back on top of the rankings but plummet after 2 days. The weird thing is, is that it seems I can do it endlessly and it will always come back for 2 days.

The other weird thing I have noticed lately is that the sites that are receiving the 301 redirect seem to be inheriting the penalty even after the 301 is cut off. This is something that I have never seen happening before and would be a huge change. Now whats annoying is that I have basically burned these sites because of my 301 testing.

Just change your link building strategy. If you know what your doing it's not hard to pop a domain out of a sandbox. With that said, I guess a lot of ppl don't know how...

These sites aren't getting "sandboxed" they are getting hit by Panda. Very different.

send editorial links from used high pr pages using rotating anchor text to a 301 and point to pandalized site, if it no come back after next panda update then change 301 to new site and start over

just 301ing a "low quality" site will not make it high quality, nor will it magically improve it's backlink profile

So start new sites and 301 the penalized ones to your competitors? :naughty:

unless they are on the verge of a penalty themselves that will only help them

When panda first hit I got a few sites deindexed. I was able to recover one with a 301. Haven't tried on sites that seem to be penalized. But I have found that they can come back in time with good link building if they're not crap sites.
