Wondering if anyone sells advertising on their own website?

how long did it take you to make a decent income from this?

how did you approach advertisers/media buyers?

did you sell advertising directly or through a broker/service?

I haven't approached the advertisers or media buyers. They're the ones who approached me. I made it through driving enough traffic in my websites.

I just started and I've earned about enough for a trip to starbucks. Hahaha... Like the previous posters said, traffic is what dictates what you can expect to receive for your virtual real estate. Trying to sell space on a site with few visitors is like trying to sell a billboard on a dead end street.

You can checkout: www.buysellads.com , they aren't the best out there, but it will allow you a quick start to being seen by a large pool of advertisers at least. Might even get some private offers out of it. :)

I usually use affiliate programs ads on my blogs. You can easily drive commissions if the products are relevant. Selling ad space directly can take a lot of time and you need a lot of high quality traffic.

It's best to produce a great website and have people approach you for advertising. This way you have pricing power. If you need to find a way to sell ads it's usually not worth it.

I would recommend using services like adnetwork or adwords when starting out. This way you can focus on building traffic and the ads will be relevant and consistent. Once you're making a decent amount with that I would say make a move to broker systems like buysellads

Selling ad space on your website is an one way to bring more money. Many of here use different ad services like Google Ad words or Yahoo and etc... But you can do it yourself without any middleman. Before you get started, the first thing you need is traffic. Traffic will make your ad work. You can sell ad space on your site yourself. Create a dedicated advertising page so any interested businesses can check you out.

    Good Luck!

Search media buy/sell sites, request their media kits, give them or ask for a call.... discuss the pricing for different ad banners & options...

Try to see their previous history & references, everyone will show you that easily... simply you are a buyer for their ad service, they always love you :p

Well everyone will do sales on their blogs/website

we don't need intermediates if our blogs/website has a huge traffic....!

You can create adsense once you get huge traffice

hance everything depends on the traffic you get for your websites/blogs
