I was thinking of buying out warranty for a hard drive I recently bought and a few other things but not really sure if it's worth it. I'm not the type to be insuring everything, in fact I never insure my personal possessions and never have any issues, though warranties can have their positive sides, especially as hardware gets old. :D

Though their terms of conditions don't seem to be very clear.

i would just forget the extended warranty and take the risk. They wouldn't be selling it if the product was unreliable

I would instead spend the time making sure that everything on that hardrive is backed up online. If it does break, you will be able to just buy another one. Hard drives last for ages normally. How much will you care about that warranty if you lose all your data on it though?

I used to always take a warranty out on a portable cassette player, and it was great, after a year it would normally break, and then i could exchange it for a similar value product, which by then was cd players. Then i done it again, and i "upgraded" to mp3 player. So it depends on what it is i guess.

You can extend warranty on your device or peripherals .. you should pay some money to extend your warranty before due date of expire warranty..

I would think that this would be common sense, at least I hope so. I obviously have backups, as you never know and like you said, a warranty won't help if you lose valuable data. Though from my perspective, three years later I will be able to get an upgrade or cash back vs spending another £100+ on for example another hard drive.
