Anyone not implementing the consent v2 stuff?

Being hounded by Google but they are usually just spammy sales tools - is this actually legit? Do we need to add this? They didn't explictly state that if we didn't do it our account will get banned but.. you know Google.

Just go to a big name provider. I use cookiebot. You pay a bit of a rip of though, its like $10 for one site, and then $50 monthly for 2-4 lol. But i stick with it. Its the industry leader, and as long as i have it installed I don't worry about google or anyone else claiming my site doesn't comply. Cookie bot where one of the first out the door the consent cookie setup. Not sure about others, i made a thread last year i think, to show my analaytics with cookie bot, but nobody responded. Its like people are avoiding it, and not talking about what they are doing, or not doing anything and failing in the same way as everyone stuck with the consent cookie policy.

Why do you prefer to pay a monthly fee instead of doing it yourself? Even $120/yr seems like a rip-off for one time bit of Javascript?

In Europe consumer consent law is followed strictly, so google takes that seriously.

Agreed with you on the javascript concept but if you want to follow consents fully then you have to save every consents data (accepted what & rejected what) somewhere so here you have to store the data. If any audits happens then you have to show that user consent data (which time accepted or rejected what) otherwise you can get legally problems. This is why people use a subscription based 3rd party service so that if a audit happens then they can ask for that data from their 3rd party consent provider & if they can’t provide that data then they can sue their 3rd party consent provider and they don’t face any legal consequences. If you’re building your own consent system then you’re on your own with consent data so that’s there.

It’s a ripoff subscription service but it has its market needs.

It seems you get what you pay for. If i pay $0 then i'm probably not covered. If i pay $10 with something like cookiebot, i get the full protection that goes with the service as what is mentioned. I don't agree with it. But thats different from following the rules, and paying to help minimize the hassle. Which i am inclined to do.

if you tragetting user's in the EU EEA i implement it better to stay compliant than risk issues later
