So, I noticed that there's not a lot of talk on here about whether people are banking by selling their own Kindle books. Anyone here doing ok?

I'm just wondering if people are throwing up junk or putting work into it. I've made almost $350 this month off of a few books.

    @bulldawg88: if I may ask,

    1. How many books have you published on Kindle, to be exact?
    2. How many new books do you produce per month?
    3. Are your books all in the same niche/category?
    4. Do you produce new books on a regular basis?

    Thanks.

At this point, about 7 books in the same category. I try to produce at least 2 books per week.

If you're not making as much as you'd like currently, increase your ebooks' price.

$1.99 isn't going to get you anything until you make dozens upon dozens upon hundreds of sales.

ebooks are a very good supply/demand product. use your sales metrics and find your equilibrium.

Unless you wrote an ebook about my avatar, don't worry about it.

I'm officially over $400 for the month. Kindle doesn't seem to be a very active topic here.

Its something that I have been interested in doing, but just been motivated enough to start the process.

I assume the best area to jump into would be the "how-to" niche, but thats just an assumption.

Is there anyway to see what is popular or selling well?

OP, without mentioning your specific niche, what style of book have you been most successful with?

I write my own short stories for in the fiction genre. If you go to Amazon and look in the Kindle Store under "fiction", I'm sure you'll know what kind of stories I write.

You have me sort of intrigued now, even though I have no idea what kind of stories you are talking about hehe. My first thought was some sort of romance novels or soft-core porn, but maybe that's just my mind in the gutter. Are you secretly responsible for the Hunger Games trilogy?

@johnlittle romance...no. soft-core....no. Here's how you make a killing on Kindle: write the filthiest "erotica" you can think of in your mind. People buy it up like hotcakes.

Well , It's not a famous topic here like white hat. Check the WH section VS BH Section. People here like to make a lot of Cash in the Shortest time. However, I remember someone posted here a method about it and he was really BANKING from his ebooks :)

Bulldawg88: Thanks man. I searched through the kindle forums last night and found a bajillion threads on writing erotica for the kindle. I should have assumed it would be such a booming niche.

For most of the authors it seems like a matter of just churning out as many short stories as they can at like a dollar each. After you write three or four short stories you bundle them together for four or five dollars and go from there.

Do you have someone make your covers for you, or do you do it yourself? Do you do any extra marketing for your books, or just toss them on there and let people find them naturally?

Thanks for all of the help and letting me pick your brain.
