I'm just curious, I'm about to embark on JV with a group of medical professionals who wish to start a dedicated educational youtube channel. For all of my offline work I'll be compensated via the ad revenue coming down the pipe via youtube. I was just curious, does anyone make any money with the ad revenue sharing feature on yourtube?

Listen to me, dont do it. You will be very very disappointed that you did all that work for pocket change.

First of all educational videos dont get many views in general, people dont look for that on youtube. If you do become popular it will take you 1-2 years minimum, and most likely at that time are expecting to earn 1000 a month if you get lucky, mean while you will be earning pocket change.

If you don't believe me ask other people.

I make 200$ off youtube from the partner program by revenue sharing my videos, i could probably make 10x more by just mass uploading spam videos and putting C P A Lead on it.

You can make money with the revenue share program, there are people on yt who make a living via youtube. However this requires good content, time and a good user/fan base. It is possible but I believe it will be hard to do on a mass scale in the medical niche.

This is real helpful guys, I'm kinda on the fence with this one...it's going to be high end stuff, green screens, lighting ect...I feel the production value will trump most, if not all the stuff out there for this particular niche, I'll have doctors from a
Number of disciplines participating, I think its one of those try it and dengue it goes type of gigs..

You just have to have unique content that way you will easily get into the partner program and make a lot of money without much trouble.

I watched the vids on ABC news about this and they say some of their top partners make 6 figures, but they also warn against educational vids, as they are not very common searches.
Plus they featured a girl who has the educational sewing niche and she links her website to her tube which is her bread and butter, and yah, educational channels take a very long time to develop.

Not sure if there is much competition in your idea, but if there isnt, and you have a year or two to invest, it could very well work out in the end
