I have been doing IG and stuff for a while now and today I was thinking about how i'm forcefully learning new skills (which isn't a bad thing) but not using my previously learned skills... That being said I'm very good at video editing and special FX and I was wondering if anyone knows how I could use that skill to make profit?

Fiverr is your friend. Build a portfolio and show it off on your fiverr profile.

You can also upgrade your BHW membership to Jr.Vip and list your *skills* in the marketplace.

    Just my 0.02 cents

How about you make an account on freelancer and put a tag on video creation/editing? this way you get an email any time someone is looking to hire someone with your skills.

Thanks for the replies, I have checked out these sites and they all have these "featured" editors and high ranked ones that hide the people just starting out... Do you guys think I would still get some orders if I was at the bottom of the list? (Because I probably would be at the bottom if I joined just now)

There's no single car company in the world.
There's no single operating system company in the world.
There's no single microprocessor company in the world.
There's no single singer in the world.
There's no single director in the world.
There's no single actor/actress in the world.

There will always be some competition unless you invent something new so don't let that stop you from starting out. Just step out and move forward. You'll be one amongst that top "featured" editors very soon.

    Wish you best!

On freelancer, because that`s my idea, it`s all about how much you bid for a project. Although the rating will show when you bid. But if you have no ratings, a good idea is to bid lower than everyone else on a couple of projects. This way you make a little bit of money while creating a positive rating that will get you higher paid jobs.

Start on Upwork. Don't be afraid because youre new to the platform. I hired 2 animators and they were both new to upwork. Just take the tests on upwork to prove that you know your skill.
Also, when applying actually put some effort in your application dont just copy/paste your resume.

Volts, I produced video full time for almost five years, so perhaps I have some applicable experience! But of course, as others have stated your mileage may vary.

Short films & "micro-docs" for international NGOs were my bread & butter (think aid organizations like Doctors Without Borders etc). But I also did a lot of corporate production (small- to medium-business commercials). Video editing alone will only get you so far...everyone with Premiere will be able to undercut you as far as rates. So you want to get as much actual production experience as necessary. If you can find a local production company willing to let you be a PA for cheap, might be worth a try.

It's really hard to get remote work for video edits. I don't think you'll have any luck with Fiverr or Upwork. For the simple reason that you're usually working with hundreds of GB or a few TB of footage and nobody wants to send that remotely. You might want to try locally. Craigslist, one of the specialized video message boards, or even local FB groups. That's your best bet.

If you have any specific questions I'm more than happy to answer!

Freelancing is a good option and if you're worrying about competition then try peopleperhour. Although I wouldn't forget about upwork and freelancer.com
As long as you build a kickass portfolio and a nice cover letter then I don't see a reason to worry.

Fiverr can be great if you utilize the upsells properly.
If you've got skills don't "kill" your prices.

Being a seller here could be better, since bhw members value quality.
Also use youtube and show your skills, get out there, show what you've got to provide.
