Anyone know the legality of using logos on your site?

If I have a section on my site named "further reading" or something like "brands we like" with logos of companies like NAT Geo, or WWF. Would I be breaking any copyright laws?

Yeah. If you do not have permission from them. Just read their TOS. Some companies allow images, but only from their Media section.

Logos are copyrighted material.

You need a formal agreement with the owners to use them even if you are promoting their brand.

You can't tell them "hey, I'm driving traffic to your site". No sir, that's not how that works.

Let me add that logos are sacred objects. They represent the company and their reputation.

There are many reasons why they will not allow you to use them without a legal agreement, e.g.

- it can be used to misrepresent the owner.

- if a site using their logo is involved in any controversy it could drag with it the reputation of the owner.
