I seen someone sharing this article on my Facebook News Feed.

    http://www.irishnews.com/news/north...bury-s-and-marks-and-spencer-vouchers-758178/

From the comments on the article:

This is a clever scam as the sender has not been hacked & the message seems quite genuine, depending on who sends it. I received the message from my mum & believed it was written by her so began to follow it up to investigate. The way it works & is made to seem more genuine is that you are asked to send an invitation to take part in the limited offer to 10 people, after which you give your address & they send a gift card.

If that link is what I think it is, it's a link to a £1 email submit CPA offer, and whoever is doing it will be raking in some serious coin if so :cool::cool:.

    Thoughts?

EDIT: Just to clarify, the link I've posted is a link to some Irish News website, not the link to the CPA offer I'm referring to lol.... obviously.

I've seen folks hiring hackers on some forums to build software for whatsapp spamming. I guess someone cracked the protocol and can now blast away messages.

Such a stupid use to scam people though. This could be used for real smart marketing.

If they've managed to post the message from one of the persons actual contacts though, the 'social proof' factor will mean they're absolutely raking it in with that CPA offer.

I agree though, its potential for legit marketing is also huge. Will be interesting to see if something appears on offer for the general population (of IM'ers) to get involved with...

EDIT: and FYI, it could be a legit email submit 'sweepstakes' CPA offer they're pushing. I've seen very similar offers that pay £1+ per submit.

Hopefully they've got a really elaborate pool of offers to spam. Wonder if they're going to get backlash from their networks.

I'd imagine so, unless its one dodgy-ass network lol.

I was meaning the CPA offer could be legit lol, not the hacking part :p

Plus could it not be some sort of script, that when someone is logged into Whatsapp and clicks a link online or something it shares that message to their contacts or some such, I'm just guessing btw lol I have no clue about all this type of trickery.
