well basically i was going to apply for a payday loan of £80, but during the application form i got frustrated with all the details i couldn't find and just gave up. i had also entered my bank details in this form (which i didn't actually submit in the end).

since then they have taken 3 lots of around £30 out of my account, they claimed these were brokers fee's, without any warning to me and i have a feeling they wouldn't of told me at all if i didn't ring natwest,

apparently 2 of these are void and will be returning into my account, but i still have to fill in a refund form to get the 3rd lot of money back. i don't want a refund and the hassle that's bound to come with it, i just want my money back that was taken from me. if i'm entitled to a refund then obviously they know i'm in the right? right? is there anything i can send them in writing threatening with legal action etc?

just posting on here because there's a lot of people on this forum who know what they are talking about with this kind of stuff.

    thanks

Why threaten them if you can submit for a refund?

ironic, but I was just about to post those same 3 sites,
and if OP is in UK, checkout the Financial Obudsman site / Financial Services Authourity

    @OP
That sucks, and they will no doubt try to hide behind the "small writing" element,
but best practice is not to give up, and get all monies reinstated.

    Good Luck....
    Oh, and my advice
DO NOT TAKE A PAYDAY LOAN EVER.

thanks for the advice! and yeah i wont be going anywhere near those things again. i dread to think if i had actually taken the loan!

and i know what you mean about why threaten them if i can get a refund, but the refund form requires references and some other details you get when you actually apply for or take out a loan, but i didn't even finish the application form and have been basically robbed.

There is currently an investigation of payday lenders by the OFT.

It seems strange that they took money from you without the application being complete. This could well be against regulations.

If I were you I'd report them to the appropriate authorities. The more people who do this then the sooner we may get rid of these vile parasitic companies.

It seems very strange to me that on the one hand there is massive regulation in the pensions and investment industries yet lenders are allowed to charge 4,000 + APR.

i've also just found out that this has recently happened to a handful of other poeople too, the culprits are mainly SMILE FINANCE and money warehouse, it seems as though smile finance is by far the worst though.

i'm not that fussed about the money but i want them to pay for what they are doing, even if it's just the hastle of a legal threat

Since you are in the UK create a new business offer with them in your favour.

Write a letter that you were billed 3 slots without agreeing on their business terms as you never finished and submitted the form and that they still owe you 1 slot.
Write that you are now sending them a businessproposal that if they dont refund your money longer than 7 days
that you are going to charge them for that service xx pounds (some pounds under slot) for each week.
Write that under commercial law you take it as agreement of your business terms that they will pay you xx pounds each week as fee till they will refund your slot if they dont refund your money in the next 7 days.

Thats a legal contract and you will see how fast you will have your money back :)
