I am trying to figure out a good method of penetrating bigger companies to solicit SEO and other services. Does anyone have a good method that they could share with me?

Networking with people is pretty powerful. I've got some pretty big companies by knowing the right people... make friends with web designers.

Well if I told you then I wouldnt have these companies as clients lol.

Networking is key for bigger clients and companies. It really does come to who you know and who knows you. Try graphic designers, web designers who don't do SEO, non profit & charity groups, church (seriously)

Did you ever hear of the sleepover bandits? Hunt down the senior VP, visit his home on a sunday evening. Tie up his family, convince his wife to make him cooperate and get yourself a 24 month retainer.

Then tell him that if he goes to the cops that his mothers nursing home will fall victim to some horrible tragedy and your sorted.

If you do a good job of the initial kidnapping, your victims may develop Stockholm syndrome, then your really in the money, you can get your shit floated around all kinds of corporate events.

    Now thats networking.

Not to discourage you but I believe most big companies have an onsite guy that does their SEO.

I met a couple of them at ASE last month and even picked one up as a client.

Those guys do outsource so you have a shot at serving them if you can connect with them.

I knew that networking was one of the ways but I defiantly did not know that is was "key" in picking up those large clients. Thanks for all of the advise guys. I think that I am going to implement the "Sleep Over Bandit" tactic suggested by G-S-T LMFAO

Yeah this is mostly the case. I worked for an SEO company and they built links for toshiba. Everything else they did in house, but outsoruced some link building.

You'll find that link building is always outsourced and overseen by an in house "exec." Big companies also don't really get SEO (even though they pay people to do it) and hate being solicited. Network or get a referral, then show results.
