Is anyone here in the US Military? I'd love to ask you a few questions I've had about the entire thing.

Doesn't mater if you are a private, a reserve, anything at all :)

Also has anyone here been on active duty? Tell us about your experience!

Don't think they are allowed to talk about duty and other stuff online or offline.

You wont find too many people admit they are in the Military on here. I am Ex Royal Navy but while serving you cannot "officially" hold a job / have an income anywhere else so they wouldn't openly share it here.

Well strictly no. The reason being is that we are not allowed to run any chance of getting in to debt and in turn bring the navy into disrepute if you end up going to court.
The rules say we couldn't but of course everyone does, I ran several websites while I was in the navy. When your at sea there is sod all else to do but write stacks of content.
In fact it was a great place to get stated doing this as I could design stacks of websites so when I was at home all I had to do was worry about promoting them.

You can't get into debt unless you do margin trading,I was thinking about going in the Royal navy at one time. But If I can't make a nice amount of money just investing the money I earn from being in it,its completely pointless.

Like I said, everyone does it anyway. Investments are fine.

Then Im pretty sure that having one or two websites with ads on them would be fine as well. I dont think the Royal Navy would fine someone or whatever they do. If you have a website with ads about How to train your dog or how to get in shape for rugby. And you write articles and post them on those sites, instead of going to a bar every weekend.

    @Roparadise

Some rules exist for "edge" situations. That 's why nobody really bothers following them. If shit goes down, they can always claim you broke the rules (which would be true). The rules I made to protect you are good, you broke them, you are responsible - not me.

Same thing goes in business. Don't about about your part of the world, but when one gets on a employee job here, the contract usually states that he can't do other business without prior written consent from the company, for the same reasons. Of course, nobody cares, but it 's a leverage they have in possible ... disagreements ;)

Well, I'm a veteran. Did 5 years with the U.S. Army 82nd Airborne and left as an Infantry Sergeant. I loved it, regret leaving... I have a Purple Heart and Bronze Star with Valor and my career was definitely going good. Would have stayed but after Afghanistan and an IED encounter, I had the option of a desk or medical retirement.

So here I am. ;-) Civilian life has been a huge adjustment, I'm still trying to get the hang of it.

I was in the US Air Force for 10 years. Can't get into details about what I did but I worked
    around planes and missiles.

But I do have to say that joining the military at a young age was the best decision I
ever made in my life. I'm always recommending military service to young kids who don't
have a focus in life or don't know what they want to do.

For someone that has the choice of either being in the U.K. military, U.S. Military, or Irish Military, which one should I choose?
