If you can't use flash you'll want a camera with high ISO capabilities and a lens with a wide aperture (low f/stop). The Canon 5D MKII are nice or if you're a Nikon user the D700. That's in the full frame arena. For cropped sensors you can go with a D300.

If you can use flash, then you can go with a lower end body cause the flash will compensate. Would still be a good idea to get a nice wide lens.

Well, if you need an inexpensive setup for inside shots then take a Canon 40d with Sigma 10-20 Lens. Whole set will run you less than $1000. Then depends on your needs you have to invest in some other equipment (tripod, flashes, filters, etc..).

Sigma has some issue, however if you find a right copy you will never regret of your choice. There is much more involved in whole process, if you need any help I will be glad to answer your questions.

    Good luck.
