I am playing around with the free trial. Main purpose will be to use this for client reports if i do get it...

I am curious about the ranking reports/sections/widgets

    1. Why does RT only report "average position" via Google Webmaster Tools whereas other tools report actual position?? Isn't it better to show a client actual rankings instead of just the average?? I don't want it to show "Average position"?? Other tools like Rank Tracke and Web CEO show exact position; not average

    2. Why is it showing words that I did not add to my keywords under the GWT rankings?? I don't want words that I didn't add showing up in the GWT rankings "rankings" section...

Is there a way to have it do pure exact rankings like with Ranktracker without "average position" and all these keywords I didn't add... they are stuff i rank for but i only want it to check for kw's i added specifically

    3. How often does Ravens Tools update the rankings for my keywords? It looks like I can't just run it at my whim. Is it daily or what? And how long does it take? I only added 20 keywords and they haven't even all been checked yet.

    4. What is the kw limit you can track on the $99 plan... is it 300?

Ok, I found the answer to the first part of my question via their help desk thing... yea this average ranking is annoying... im ranked much higher if i search for my kw's right now as to what's showing in their "average ranking"... i don't think i like this ... isn't this useless for client reporting if you are currently ranked at #1 but it reports a #3 as average?

The most important thing to know about the way Raven's Keyword Ranking tool works is that we're providing average rank data, rather than specific SERPs.
Traditionally, rankings are gathered through automated processes, rapidly searching Google (along with other search engines) and skimming the data from those searches for storage in separate databases. This practice, known as scraping, is explicitly forbidden by the terms of service of most major search engines, which means we don't do it.
Instead, Raven integrates Google Webmaster Tools and Bing Webmaster Tools, which provide average ranking data.
Average Rank is calculated by looking at all of the times Google/Bing users saw your website in searches for a given keyword phrase, finding the highest point your domain appeared in those impressions and then averaging them all together. This winds up being a bit more reliable than scraped SERPs, as it takes into account geolocation, personalization and other factors which may change your position for an individual user.
