Pretty Link for wordpress is the absolute best thing I have found for shortening urls.
    Code:
    http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/pretty-link/

    there are tons

google phpurl shorty gentlesource hideurl short url generator

You will find dozens of free scripts. most all are php/mysql and a few are on ruby

For that script (if you have cpanel)

Go to the database wizard and make a new database

Now open that database in phpmyadmin

Import the named file to the database

Now somewhere it will ask you for the database username, database name and password. You may have to open a file like config.php and edit it.

If you find another suitable one and have some issues with it, let me know. If you have cpanel I can install for you. pm me

    Home Page:
    I use it...

I have it setup so I can do some blackhat stuff with other people's links, and modded it to count hits, but yeah, seems stable and without any apparent security flaws (that or I've hacked them out of it...the php in lilurl is really simple).

If you can't figure out how to import SQL, you may wanna go learn about that...tizag is a good tutorial site I learned it all from.
