Does anyone out there travel around and work online?

I am finally at the point where I make decent money online, and I'm very tempted to pack my bags as early as next week and start getting out around the world.

I have been sitting in front of the computer, 365/24/7 for the last 18 months and it has driven me to the verge of insanity. I want to travel, work around the world, meet people and live life - because I don't feel like I am "living" at this point in my life.

So does anyone else out there travel? What are some good places accommodation/wifi wise to go that do not cost a fortune?

I would like to spend maximum $300 per week on rent - I have been looking at AirBNB in Thailand and the WIFI is also good over there from what I read.

Any experience, recommendations? And perhaps any offers to rent a room at your place for a couple months? (kind of kidding, but half serious). I would jump in a heartbeat to travel to the US, but also kind of nerved about the thought of it (I know I shouldn't be) as I have never really traveled before, and I'll be leaving my other "half" behind as things are not going so well.

    What's your thoughts? Cheers.

Thailand is cheap to live, but they're changing the visa regulations. It's not quite as easy as popping across the border 1 day for your paperwork stamping.

You might be as well having xx number of months travelling through various countries.

Come over to the Philippines. The wifi here is decent, and your 300$ budget will last you two months on a decent apartment. If you choose Philippines, i suggest coming to Cebu as it is a favorite among expats.

    Take it from them: http://lifestyle.inquirer.net/71252/expats-in-cebu-what-they-love-about-their-second-home/

Wow thanks my man, good advice.

The places on AirBNB for the Philippines look good, I will look into it now.

How do you suggest $300 would last even a month for accommodation? Am I looking in the wrong places (AirBNB $30-$40 per night for something decent).

I did AirBNB in Denmark actually. Seems like it is the most frugal but quality way of accommodation during travels. Make sure your landlord is a woman. They are more clean and helpful.

Be careful, in freelancer.com I receive a project, from somebody that need schedule all things about Airbnb, basically this person try to scam people with apartment in a cheap price, but doing the payment outside Airbnb, eg PayPal, etc.

What I mean with this? That maybe you can find somebody that try to do this with you.

When you plan your stay here (as i am also in Cebu), take the 30 or 40$ per night on AirBNB. Once you've settled in, you can then start looking for apartments. There are one bedroom apartments within the city that will only cost you 150$ a month. I am actually live in one right now but mine is 200$ a month with airconditioning and a parking space. It's only a 10 min ride to the biggest mall in the area too. If you want to go to the beach, it'll only be 40 mins to an hour from my place.

If you are serious in looking into this idea, u might wanna google 'aparments in cebu city'

Awesome, thanks for this information. I will most definitely AirBNB for the start to settle in, and going forward from there $200~ a month is very cheap, where I live right now in Australia costs me $1200 per month for myself.

I'm 100% serious about this, actually waiting for my passport to arrive in the next day or two. Curious to ask, are you Filipino? Or from another country and your living/working in the Philippines?

Yeah im filipino. I know how it works around here. I gotta tell you, man. You'll be very popular around here lol you'll get a vip treatment from the women but just be careful with the hookers.

from 1200$ a month for an apartment, you wont have a problem renting out a condo unit here for 600$. you'll even have a skyline view with that amount

Awesome, that sounds like a good lifestyle to me. Why do you need to be careful of the hookers? Stealing my stuff, STD's, or are you suggesting other reasons? Lol.

Chiang Mai in Thailand has everything you could want. Great people, amazing food, lovely weather, cheap rent, and a thriving expat community.

And it is EASY to get around the visa issues that MisterF mentioned above if you did want to settle there for a full year. But one of the best things about being somewhere like Thailand is how easy it is to then travel to a bunch of other amazing nearby countries. I highly recommend south east asia as a base. Go for it.

Lol yeah and you might not easily distinguish a hooker from someone who's not. If you are the one being approached to, then she is definitely a hooker. Why am i giving you dating tips now hahaha

anyway, let me know if you have questions with anything from around here like internet connection plans, etc. Will be willing to help :) my face is just in my PC around the clock anyway. I work from home too. and online as a content writer

Let me know a little more.... What are you looking for when you do a getaway? I can make recommendations based on your likes and dislikes... Asia (Thailand, Philippines) are all foreigner friendly nations with really cheap rent and cheap entertainment options. In Europe, Hungary is still very inexpensive (not as inexpensive as Thailand or the Philippines but) you get quality entertainment and a beautiful city with gorgeous women and high quality food without paying high prices... Anyway, let me know what you like and I can give you a more custom tailored answer.

BTW, AirbnB is great at many places, I use it quite a bit as well as host people. Any questions just let me know.

I have a friend who has used airbnb, but i wouldn't recommend it as a long standing means of 'renting'. x.x

Actually, crimes are rampant all over the world. If you say you are 100% safe from where you are and not a single crime happens there, well, then jesus im moving to where you are lol
