so i was spamming this social network big time..

then i got a threat that they will sue me if i did not stop..

they send the email in one of my bot account

but i think they dont have idea who i am.. cause the domain that im using is private...

do you think this guys are just trying to scare me?

they are not really a big site.. they are only 9k+ in alexa...

i got a threat once for $80k. i deleted the domain i was using from my godaddy account and terminated my cpa account and took the loss of profits. if they told you to stop though just stop and keep your money.

they can sue john doe and the court will decide if you are worth finding or not. godaddy will give them your info if the court asks.

dont fuck with them too hard. my advice in your case is to register your domain using a proxy and and a walmart visa gift card under a false name.

ic thanks bro.. so godaddy private domain registration is really useless..

but if you think are these guys really gonna sue you..

cause i know their office is in east cost and im in west coast.. so they are gonna travel for court??

    its too much hassle..

do not underestimate them. in my case they were going to sue me for "damages to their marketplace reputation." I sent messages to the majority of a very large and popular site's user base. Thankfully, I had concealed my identity to a point where proving my guilt would have been very difficult, costly, and at best not even cast considerable doubt upon my actions.

The more anonymous you are the safer you are.

think Vidalia/TOR, proxies, gift cards paid with cash registered online under false names, cpa accounts registered under other names, and OTR (off the record messaging).

I also tend to tunnel through several servers via ssh, especially where other encryption is not available.

Use a offshore domain registrar with fake details for more security. Don't even bother with Godaddy. If you want to use a US registrar, try Namecheap. I'm sure they will give you more security than Gaydaddy.

The problem with only taking that precaution is that the US Department of Commerce and ICANN control all of the registrars in a way. I'm pretty sure a company can subpoena your information from just about any registrar that you would normally use.

Hold on, lets get this straight.. just because they are on east cost and you are west cost doesn't mean they wont sue you. They can make their money back if they win.. or better yet make you come to court in the east coast.

Doesn't matter where they are and where you are. That is what Federal Courts are for. I got sued by someone in Cali and I live in Tn. Federal Court made it easy for them to sue me. If you look into it, it is really scary how easy it is for someone to sue you even at the federal level.

Ya well.. Lets say i had a similar situation.. They emailed me... with proof of what happened.. they said i had 24/Hrs to reply back before they take action...

They had all my info from whois... So i ended up contacting them and working something out...

But remember if they want to sue you all you can do it wait for the letter in the mail.. could be a week or could be 2 - 3 months down the line..

Best bet in this situation is to just leave it. If you feel like you really are about to get sued and you have a gut feeling don't contact them and hit up your lawyer asap.

Myspace has threatened to sue me several times. I just stopped the promotion I was doing that they caught on to and moved on to something else.

Nope I'm wondering if Craigslist has ever threatened anyone with a lawsuit though.
