I know most of what is discussed in this website is about niche website, but I want to build something bigger.

Now after 10 years of experience in almost all digital sector I think I have enough experience to do so, the only problem is that while learning and expermimenting for 10 years I made decent money I blew it on my childish expenses (chasing after the shiny object) which have left me broke.

I have a few ideas that I want to work on in big enough market and just wondering if anyone here ever took funding and investors or thought of doing the same?

    or

What are your thoughts in general?

Go & read books on Startup for Beginners. And you will have your answers.

What you're describing is the idea of a core startup culture rampant these days.

No one invests in ideas though. You'll have to figure out a way to create a Minimum Viable Product. Then get an angel fund onboard to help fund the core product build-up.

From there on it's marketing, branding, placement, outreach, user onboarding, conversion optimization, product optimization... the works.

Based on the above factors and with a strong business plan and an excellent growth scaling strategy, you can start approaching funds that invest in startups.

Ideas are not worth shit without protection, and the chances of getting a patent for something broad like a new social network is just so low it's not worth bothering with.

If people can create facebook from a dorm room running on $80 servers, I'm sure that if you are as good as you think you are you can do the same.

Until you have a proven concept, you are probably just wasting your time thinking about investors.

Thanks for this, One of my website is already up. I have validated the idea with the amount of searches and the passion of people who are into it. It is a content website.

I do know a vc who I will be going to for advice, but how much of funding can I expect from an Angel investor? Also any book or article you suggest?

You should note the risk that is involved in taking funds is high. However, before taking funds, ensure you're secured, in terms of insurance wise.
