Hi guys, I just want to write a few more threads so people recognize me around the forum, I haven't participated for a while and I often feel like I need someone to talk to because I live abroad and my girlfriend is out during the day working

I do SEO on a finance website and things are a little tough at the moment with all the Google tweaks but there is still hope because we have been 3rd for one major keyword at one point and the site was basically all content transferred from an older domain last October. The new domain is also old so that helps, its like from 1998

Anyhow we've slipped down a bit but I'm not panicking, I'm just trying to get my client to stay enthuiastic... I've tried doing email blasts with my own private SMTP server which gave some results we're struggling to find new email lists because targeted ones are expensive

I also recommened Bidvertiser and their free $20 actually brought in some visitors who engaged with the site but he spend about £2000 on an Adwords campaign which didn't give him the leads he wanted. I'm trying to get him to put some money into Bidvertiser but he hasn't gone for it yet

I've added extra pages to the site, regularly make blog posts with a cool mini form which I put at the top of each page, I even redesigned a lot of his pages because the contact form was way down on the page because the Web Designer wasn't geared towards conversions.

I can't think of anymore ideas to keep him interested.. I'm confident we'll get back from the SEO but I need to get him into some other way of driving traffic as a back up. Social media doesn't really apply to this topic because is so targeted in terms of finance and country(UK)

Are you linking the old domain to the new one, that will keep the old ranking up there while dragging the new one up. Pretty simple really, you transfered your content but nothing else. Transfering your keyword popularity takes time. Seriously it does.

You seem to know what you are doing, try to keep the website as simple to use as possible that's the main thing. Google rates rentention rates as well as keywords.

Keeping your users on the page and getting repeated searches on Google is getting more important than having your keywords in your meta tags right.

Go through your whole page and look for broken links. Also google runs through websites looking for using too many div tags. Negative effect. That used to be acceptable, not any more. Google has been updated, your website has not.

Might be a silly question but did you 301 the old domain?
Also check within GWT to see if there any issues with the site or any outstanding penalties.

Yeah be sure to 301 the old site to the new. And start building solid back links to the new site. You caqn also try different tools for getting leads, there are tools like in my signature and there are also lead generation services like sales genie ect. Try some of these.

In terms of boosting rankings, try renting high PR links on FINANCE sites and buying high PR domains, populating them with finance content, then sending links to the money site. SEO is all about highly relevant and high PR/PA/DA links right now. Can't comment on the other stuff, but this strategy is working well for me and many others regarding higher rankings.
