Anyone had any success with the google disavow link tool?

I know its still early as google said it would take some time for them to process the requests, but if anyone has anything to say about success or failures with this tool, it would be an appreciated share...

    thanks!

Personally ( I have not used it or heard anything about its results that I can verify ) I imagine it can work, because google is motivated to encourage people to do it. Think about it, they don't want to spend tons of labor manually penalizing sites, but inevitably they will have to do some review; now they have accepted it and are trying to streamline the process.

If even 1 % of webmasters with bad links comes forward with a list of links they have already "manually" reviewed and determined to be manipulative it probably can save a lot of time for just wiping out huge swaths of links google does not like but cannot get rid of with small algorithm changes.

I haven't heard much about this and this thread was started some time ago (11-17-2012) so I wanted to share - about 2-3 weeks ago I submitted some links to the disavow tool and I haven't seen anything happen yet and I am not exactly sure what to look for. If anyone has had any further experience with this, please share?

The last time I asked, I guess it was too early to know.

I had used a "machete" like approach b/c there were some domains that I knew were no longer active and those domains were from private networks so I knew they were crap links.

Anyways, after doing this and after cutts released his video the other day, there was a comment made by cutts in the discussion below the video (see image) Capture.PNG

So maybe it was good I used this "machete" like approach. I don't know.

Has anyone had any success with the disavow tool?

If yes, do you see the links in the GWT account disappear that you disavowed?

This is kind of what I am waiting to see, but not sure if this is a good indicator to look for.

What approach did you use? Did you mass disavow links using the domain: indicator or individual links?

I used the "domain:" indicator to mass disavow links from the domains I knew were shit links. So I am waiting right now and seeing what happens.

Did the links you delete, did they stop showing up in your GWT account?

I highly doubt the disavow links will do anything. If anything its telling google "Hey I effed up" give me another chance. Now you just lost your authority even if the links are discounted.

Well, that's one way to look at it, but if google has already sent you a message in your GWT account saying they have detected unnatural links to your site, I really don't think b/c I used the disavow tool now all of sudden they know something they didn't already know because they have already told me they know about the bad links.

i have used this tool before 2 months ago and I have used the web 2.0 as my main site so I got the benefit .. But google removes all the links so you have to start from scrap..I am not suggesting any 1 to use this tool if they better know what he is doing.

If you do it, only do a little at a time and see the effects.

alright, i really haven't ever entertained trying to delete links as this would be very timely and just isn't something I want to do, but there is a large percentage of my links that just no longer exist...

for example, at the height of my link building i had around 13,000 links in my GWT account and now it currently sits around 3,500, so my question is, how does google know i didn't try to get those links deleted and i was successful?

so lets assume google thinks i went through the requesting links to get deleted process, b/c so many of my links no longer exist b/c the pages those links existed on no longer exist...so, a large portion of my links have been deleted, not to my own doing, but there gone - so google is not going to know or ever be able to know this (or maybe they do)...

so that leaves reconsideration request and disavow tool, but a reconsideration request will only work if its a manual penalty, algorithmic penalties will get a standard automated response...i am pretty sure my penalty is algorithmic...

i saw your post in another thread about how you have been having some good success with the process you have done for some of your customers so i will give you props for that...

i had received the unnatural links message in my GWT account, i got hit by panda 3.3 and then the first penguin...after the first penguin refresh i got out from that so my site does alright now...

you seem to have some experience with the disavow tool, do you have a signal that you look for that lets you know google has disavowed the links you sent them? for example, will the number of links in my GWT account go down further?

    thanks!
