anyone going next week to adtech in NYC?

im thinking about going, but ive never been to one before. just wondering what the atmosphere is like there, is it casual or is it a formal, dressed up affair?

im the type of person whos comfortable in boots and jeans or sweats.

i hate getting dressed up unless somebody's died.

and what actually happens at these events, anyway? is it just a place to meet your AM's then go home or does anything eventful go on?

I won't be attending this adtech, but I've been before.

Most people wear business casual - slacks and nice shirt - but there are certainly boots and jeans people there (although I've never seen anyone in sweats).

You should dress according to what you want to get out of it.

If you're planning to make a bunch of connections and impress potential partners, you might want to put on a tie.

Good luck.

cool, that is good to hear, i can go there in comfort :)

still debating if i will go. i probably will

Youll waste your time :) biggest pile of marketing crap you will ever hear promoting companys :D

is that all it really is? just meeting account managers, and going to the CPA companies' booths and and them trying to get you to join up on their networks?

if so, ill take your advice and probably just stay home
the only good that could come out of that would be to get to know my account managers on a closer level and maybe get higher payouts on the offers, but i dont know how much more they can give me anyway, they usually give me very high paybumps as it is

but if there is something else going on beside that stuff, then i will go check it out

When I've attended in the past, there's a little too much vendor promotion in the seminars, and much of the rest is just "Get ready for Web 4.0 - even though no one has really defined it yet" crap.

The two good things I will say though:

  1. I usually learn one valuable thing that makes the whole event worthwhile. It stinks to have to dig through all the crap to find occasional gems, but I've always walked away with a gem.
  2. Their expo is huge. You will undoubtedly run into many vendors you haven't encountered before - nearly everyone attends.

Having said that, I won't be there this year. I went to CJU and PPCSummit last month, so I've already got new material to digest before I head out on the road again.
