I dropped out of college when I realized that all I needed in life was freedom. I don't need to work full time for someone else at a boring desk job. It feels weird, all my friend are still in college talking about grades and I feel so disconnected. It's like they aren't in real life yet? Can anyone here relate?

Even though you've achieved your freedom, you're still a slave to biology.

Try to find like-minded individuals to connect with or consider taking a simple class in order to have something to talk about with your friends.

This may shock you, but your friends probably aren't going to see the world the way you do.

They've been raised to believe that college is the answer to their financial problems. Go to school, get a degree, get a job with a company, work there for 20+ years, retire, die. That's it.

You want freedom. They want to be chained to a desk. They feel like that's a form of security. After all, with a good job comes a salary and benefits, which they need in order to take care of themselves.

But there's no such thing as security. They can get fired just as easily as you can have one of your money making methods get taken away from you by a website update.

For them, what they're doing is real life. They probably think you don't live in the real world. After all, who drops out of college in order to find freedom? If you don't have an education, you'll never get a good job that can give you the money to get the freedom you want. At least that's what they've been taught. So to them, you're probably the one who doesn't get it yet.

I agree with Z. It's not going to kill you to take a few classes in college. I still take college classes for things like business management, finances, etc. I don't have a degree but I learned how to do everything necessary to run my business.

If you do take classes, at least you'll still have something to talk about with them. While they're going on and on about grades, you can throw in that your business management class is hard/it's killing you/your teacher is hot/whatever. They'll think you're still taking things seriously (and you are!) and you'll still be able to connect with them.

The alternative is to make new friends who understand you and are going through the same thing you're going through. That's probably easier than everything I just said.

I bet you live at home with your mom too. No, I can't relate because I'm a winner.

ETA: It's really easy to talk about "all I need is freedom" while you're mooching off of someone.

How did you become financially free before you left college?

I don't usually talk about my IM ventures to friends or family mainly because people don't really take interest in what your doing until they see the dollar signs flow in.

Same people clowning you for making $25 a day online are the same people that are gonna ask you how they can start making money online too when you start bringing in $200+ everyday.

It's just the unfortunate truth. I don't take it personally it just taught me to stop looking towards other for reassurance and to trust my gut. If you don't have faith in yourself then you can't expect anyone else to.

While I feel college etc. a lot of times is a waste as one can learn all the material on their own in a shorter timeframe, the question is are you in real life yet? Do you live on your own? Sustain yourself?
