    Hey,

I was wondering if anyone could direct me on how to create some IRC bots. Basically what I am looking for is a script for say 500 bot nicks to appear in channel(s) #X. If someone was to message a bot, it would be forwarded to a control nick(s). When that nick responds (manual response) it would respond back to who messaged, as the bot that was initially messaged. Furthermore, as a real person enters a chat a bot is automatically removed (immediately, and timer based), as people leave a bot is added up to max. The names of the bots would be randomly picked from a text file.

I read up on creating bots, or a botnet but it was mostly for automatic control of channels and the IRCd I use supports botserv so that handles it fine.

    Thanks

Before we even get into anything, there is a flaw with your layout.

If your messages get forwarded to one control center, then, you will run into an issue if a user messages multiple users, dudes do that...But honestly IRC is not that worth it anymore, not that many people on there. Well, there is a lot of asian/indian traffic still.

I think auto responder with random timers would save you a whole lot of trouble.

You'll still get a good click through ratio with that. I was getting about 1/3 ctr a few months back.

Depending on what you are trying to do though it could be good, or not be worth the time.

I had a bot, it even tried to have a conversation with people

but it was all people from places like Indonesia and Saudi arabia and the ones that are left in the western world are relatively savvyy/old time IRC users. Judging from the logs, it did fool a few people but they weren't qualified people so for me that was a door that was not worth exploring.

There's tons of IRC bots of the legal kind and APIs to do what you want to do

Well I was promoting adult content and was getting good traffic. Using girl nicks, have timers and using $nick you can somewhat engage a conversation and fool the user into thinking you are a real person. At this point it comes to be more SE than anything.

Like: "hey I gotta go, I am going live on cam so I can't chat in two places at once...blablabla"

CTR is pretty awesome, but conversions low.

Could be worth it if you are having CPM ads and a few diff urls/msgs to fool multiple users.

The cool thing also is that not everyone is using straight up mirc, so are browser based chats and some email clients seem to provide a chat in the email, so it doesn't look TOO suspicious as far as traffic goes. It looks pretty varied, but still does show that it is chat room traffic.

@Nick1 : I would be interested in reading your code to see what you mean by "try to have a discussion"
