Anyone experience decrease in backlinks count in GWT?

As the question implies, have you experience it?

I've heard that even those removed backlinks stayed on the GWT "links to your site" section, but now one site has dropped from 111 to 42.

Traffic also decreased significantly.

Any thoughts?
