Ugh, seriously the worst platform.. Just a nightmare for business owners. Makes it even worse there is zero support from Google.

Edit Problems: I keep submitting updates and edits over and over for 3 places, and Google doesn't update the live listing.. I've claimed all 3, etc but editing minor stuff, no phone #, just description, hours, etc.. Not to mention my sidebar with the % completed even after updates shows 40%-60% for the 3, even after I submit 100% complete information. And what's even more odd, one shows 40% complete, when it's at least 90% completed and only missing hours.

Another Problem: As well for the city + business-type, it shows a 7 pack.. The site ranking #1 have 20 garbage backlinks, 100 citations, No Keyword In Title, Low Reviews, Very Small # of Keyword In Reviews, No real website content, etc.. And this is for 5 of them.. (Most rank #2-3 in keyword + brand too).. On the other hand Mine has 250+ citations, all accurate, 10 year old domain, 500 quality backlinks, Quality Site, Keywords on Site, etc. Ranks #1-2 for the city + brand, but is no where for city + business-type.

So I've looked into the categories, changed them. Updated descriptions to include keywords, have gotten more reviews with keywords in them by asking customers, etc. And my only thought right now is, since Google won't update, I can't rank.?

    Your thoughts?

Random Note: The majority of businesses have a phone # that's automated for the customer to Dial 1 for this or Dial 2 for that. How does Google expect to verify these phone numbers? The mailer works fine, but takes a few days and making changes sometimes requires a new mailer to be sent out. It gets annoying after awhile.

Random Note #2: Do Not use the same phone # for 2 different business. Have two companies in the same location, and some how Google has combined these 6 times, mixed all the information up. Google created 4 new pages for both businesses randomly. It's been crazy trying to keep up and delete/claim all of these. Finally getting things worked out by installing a new phone system and phone # at the business.

Random Note #3: In their place page edit section you can use Youtube videos, yet I'm not seeing these on the new Local+ page. Also When I go to edit, it says there are ZERO photos, yet previously there were 6, and I added 10 to the Local+ page.. So that's not accurate either.

    ....

Anyone else hate this setup? Seriously, it's a joke. They just started running it, and pretty much said fuck updating it. Only update was Local+ and that was just to make business owners freak out and sign up, which in my thoughts is really low..

Going to add another note.. A lot of business owners I've been talking to had 200-400 Google reviews, and recently they lost all of them. Literally went from 200-300 down to 10 or 20. They handed out cards for customers to take home and submit reviews from their own home. I've seen companies that do in-house reviews, and at-home reviews, all of them lose their reviews. Even Google approved a review station in the companies so they could collect reviews in-house. I guess they lied about that though..

    Yes, it is awefull.
We had wrong submitted opening times from customers. I claimed the account and was trying to change it, but with no luck. Angry customers are calling us all the time, as they want to come Mondays - as seen on Google - but they stand in front of closed doors. I changed it about 9 to 10 times inbetween, but nothing happens.

I also run into problems with updates, trying to enter events and stuff like that. I've given up on it for anything except reviews though at least my hours and location information is correct. Support is fairly nonexistent as well. Something to keep an eye on though. those reviews and listings should help with SEO but definitely going to wait until they clean up the interface and get it working a bit better.

Try making your edits in Google Map Maker. I've heard that it can push edits when your G+ Local Page won't.

Google has messed this up in pretty much every possible way.

I've built nice and detailed Local pages for clients with pictures and videos and stuff. And the corresponding plus pages that now show up display almost none of this information beyond hours and location. No pictures, no videos.

And then when I went to link up the Google+ Local with the morphed Google Places page Google is attempting to associate the wrong Place page.

And as someone has pointed out Google has absolutely no support for this.

    Such profound incompetence.
