Anyone else having problems with Bluehost lately?

    Hosting on all of my domains on this account have gone down 3 times in the last three weeks just while i was working on them. I know it's gone down a lot more than this because I'm getting random google crawl errors.

    I'm getting errors like 502, 504

    theyre telling me to upgrade hosting or optimize my websites. I only have 5 small wordpress sites that get 0 visitors except me and whatever bots decide to crawl them. 2 of which are on cloudflare

    didn't think it would be normal for hosting to go down under these conditions. it does down for 15-20 minutes while im working on one site. And all the sites on my account go down

    I have a few websites with bluehost shared hosting which I had for years and I've always been happy with them. Haven't noticed any downtime last weeks.

    I have not had an issue with BH for about 2 and a half years now.

    That is when I kicked them to the curb.

    try to check your folder or unknow files in your hosting..
    maybe someone hack your site and put malicious code inside..
    also try disable all plugin and reactive 1-1...

    Do you have the basic plan? Sounds weird they ask you to upgrade when you just have small wordpress sites with no traffic? I think I got the "Plus" shared hosting or whatever its called and my sites get around 50k uniques a month without a problem.

    thanks, this is something new to me i dont understand everything in file manager yet, ill look into it. For now i installed Wordfence I'll try playing around with that.

    Mine is also the Plus plan. Their support doesn't seem to be very knowledgeable. I told them i have small wordpress sites that get zero visitors and she just sent me a copy and paste of links about optimizing wordpress and told me i need to optimize or upgrade.

    Yes and their support was horrible and it was a reseller account to boot.

    I stay away from any companies that are associated with these guys and BH is one of them.

    Actualy almost these big hosting companies like bluehost, hostgator, ipage and so on, the list is huge, belong to the same group. I stoped to use it all some years ago.

    like bass and boot said.. i got bad exp. with that big hosting..
    now rent $5 VPS, learn few linux command and times on DO
    nginx, mariadb, php7, wordpress + free ssl = :)

    i used Bluehost for almost 10 years. I finally got fed up with their BS and crap service and switched to siteground. Overall a much better company and hosting provider.

    Its working like it should do for me i had some errors a while ago but thats solved and i think it where my own fault

    @OP since you are not telling us much about your wordpress sites we can only guess.
    What we would suggest you , is to turn off all plugins (if any) and install caching plugin.

    Of course, if they can't handle 5 fresh websites on their "unlimited plans" you better move away.

    If you take this decision, we can give you 1 month trial period of our SSD Shared Hosting and of course move your websites for free.

    thanks, i appreciate that and i'll let you know if it comes to that. I just remembered that you can get a refund for the months you haven't used so i might just ditch bluehost. I who is looked up the other websites on the IP that mine is on and checked their speed when mine was slowing down today, and the ones i checked also seemed to be affected.

    contacted support again and these are the replies this time:

    I have checked the server logs.

    we certainly apologize for the inconvenience, there is currently an issue with the server itself. Our administrators are working to resolve the issue as soon as possible. This may be a server issue, or it may be an issue caused by another user hosted on the server.

    Because you are in a shared hosting environment, this means that any user on any server can potentially cause issues with the server itself. These issues can effect performance for other users on the same server. If this is indeed the cause, we work to find these users that are causing the problems and deactivate them.


    You can try upgarding the account to a VPS hosting.

    We apologize for the downtime you experienced and any inconvenience this may have caused. Our first priority is to get the server up and running as soon as possible so you experience no more down time. The resources and time it would take to move you to another box is far greater than the resources currently being used to bring your server back online.

    The support reply seems legit , since on shared hosting you are sharing the same sever with thousands of others ( if overselled could be more of course :) and would be little harder to track the abuser).

    The resources and time that would take to move you to another box is ~5 to 10min :)
    And if the satisfaction of their new customer is not main priority.. well.. no commend
