    Hey folks....

I was just wondering if any of the software savvy members in here could recommend the best software to burn dvds with?.

I download the odd film now and then through torrent sites, and always struggle to put it into disc because of the multitude of formats there are...avi,mpeg etc etc...

Would anyone be able to recommend a few?

    Thanks in advance...

    John

I used nero 7. I dont put them on dvd anymore and looking now theyre up to nero 10. I cant remember exactly what part I used but it was really easy. You just select the avi file and it does the rest. Its the nero burning rom on 10.

I like InfraRecorder as a good free/open source program to burn with. Not as pretty as some things like Nero but I usually have more luck with it.

If you're trying to make a DVD that you can put in an old dvd player, I haven't tried that, though it has the option. My dvd player is several years old yet it can read in avi/mpg files I get from my camera, so I just dump the files on a disk. If you want to make it play like a DVD you could try InfraRecorder, though I'd probably choose another mastering program that would dump an iso file that you then burn. A quick google search found DvdStyler which is open source and lets you do menus and whatnot, though I haven't tried it.

Why can't you use Nero? I use it since I bought my first computer xD

Anyway, you can use Alcohol since it has a 15 trial period.

If you download DVDR formats and want to burn them. I would suggest the free software Imgburn. First hit on google.

If you burn other things I could suggest CDBurnerXP which is also freeware. Simple to burn music and movies on. Very user friendly.
