I was wondering If anybody on these boards owns a netbook?

I am planning on getting a netbook or a really small laptop to do my IMing on.

I currently own a 5 year old hp desktop which literally raises the temperature of my room 5 degrees. I also have a 3 year old compaq laptop which also heats up like a mofo.

Can anybody recommend me something cool, quiet, and compact? I will probably only use this to manage my ppc campaigns and watch the odd movie here and there. Price is not an issue.

    Thanks :D

I got the Acer Aspire One early this year and its great i'm on it right now.
Its small, very quiet, and is fast compared to others in my opinion.
I haven't had one problem with it so far.

I bought an asus Eee 900 series yesterday and I love it. My 1 year old Toshiba Tech got infested w/ virus and I had no backup. I learned a valuable lesson. Anyhow I really like using it and it is fast. Less than 2 lbs and could probably fit in my coat pocket. Plus if your using it at a coffee shop girls will come up to it like it's a little puppy dog. Theres a guy on youtube that gives good "run down" on it.

I have several netbooks. My favorites are the Lenovo S10, and the HP. The HP has a better keyboard than most netbooks and if you are IMing I would think a decent keyboard is critical.

Im using the Aspire One Now (Have been since December) I love it, especially for writing my articles and IMing. I have not had any problems whatsoever with it and recommend it to my friends if they ask.

I use an Aspire 1 from time to time when I'm out and want to do some work online. Works good for me no problems yet (other than when I dropped my first one in a swimming pool)

I also have an Aspire One (got it at costco along with $1.50 hot dog and coke) and LOVE it! It is perfect for surfing and doing most other stuff. I do have DreamWeaver on it and that works fine., I haven't put Photoshop on it yet, but I suspect that will work ok too.

I own one and virtually never use it. Now mine is an 8.9 inch model which I find to be just way too small. Even if it is lightweight and easy to carry around... The keyboard is kind of crammed together which makes it a real bitch to type at my normal speed of 1,000,000WPM

I've seen 11 inch and 12 inch notebooks that are just as convenient when it comes to weight and size, and far superior in all around comfort of use.

My recommendation to anyone considering picking up a netbook is to head to walmart or best buy and try one out for a while.. Really try one out - Open up a notepad and see how fast you can type without constantly having to backspace through typing errors.

And no my fingers are not grotesquely huge - As a matter of fact, they're quite nice and dainty as far as men's hands are concerned, thank you very much.

    my thoughts exactly.

picked up a Lenovo S10 for $300 (originaly $600) when circuit city when under. Thought about getting the HP for the slightly better keyboard but the S10 had me sold since it came with a 200Gig hard drive ( your not gonna find that in too many netbooks ;) )

    thats for the replies.

I'm kinda leaning towards the hp mini because of the better keyboard :D
