Is anybody making good money off of a single blog?

From what I can see, it seems like the only people making over 10K per month are the people with a whole bunch of adsense site, as opposed to just one big blog. Is it possible to make a lot of cash with adsense if you have the traffic and you're in a good niche?

I hate the grind of affiliate marketing and would much rather make a blog, but the money is good and I only want to do a blog if the potential is there. I'm talking long term, not expecting to make money fast with this plan.

It is doable... but VERY HARD...

You could make 500-1k per site if you are the run of the mill SEOer and writer, and keyword researcher...

making 10k per month on a site would likely need something more then just ads. -- if you have that much traffic you can easlily make more from promoting products and such

So is it hard to do with adsense, or hard in general with a blog? If you have a good amount of traffic in a good niche, is it just a matter of learning how to monetize with other methods?

It used to be easy as long as you have traffic that supports high priced products with recurring income. I.e. subscription based services for financial information or seo. It's not that easy with Adsense as it does not provide residual income.

If you have the traffic then yes it is. But, dont only rely on adsense. Promote some affiliate products in your blog too as reviews or something. Or even have a part of your site as an amazon store and put your niche related products there. It is possible to make money off a single blog but you have to put all the work into it. But hey. Hard work pays off

If you were making 10k per month from one blog and you woke up the next day to find G removed your blog from its search results because it had changed its mind about what it wanted and liked about your blog etc then you'd lose everything.

It can be very beneficial to have multiple sites rather than just one. Manage 10 sites at 1k per month each - hire some VA's to assist you in managing them. It's much safer than relying on one site for all of your income.

The reason I'm asking about one big blog is because I own a PR4 financial related site that hasn't been touched for years. I want to do something big and long term with it and I figured a blog was the answer. I guess I need to integrate my affiliate marketing skills somehow. "Financial" is such a broad topic and it's hard to decide where the money is, but also with sustainability instead of gunning for a keyword(s) and milking it till the wheels fall off. Looking for more of a long term business model.

I also want to test a theory with this site. I'm not going to create any backlinks of any kind and will only get what other sites give me naturally. Although the going will be a hell of a lot slower, my theory is that if I can get there I'll never fall off during algorithm updates etc. Tons of "big name" sites have retained a big flow of traffic for years and I think it's because they don't do any direct link building and therefore they never leave a trail of anything that could trigger negative effect during future updates.

Check all the Bloggers out there. I will refer to someone I specially like and he's really a good person. So, no Linking from BHW.. You gonna need to copy and paste it.. ( smartpassiveincome.com )

He makes +50K / Month for over 3 years now. But he is really good at making relations and strengthen it. BTW, he sucks in SEO :)

So, its all about knowing your strength and abusing it. 300$/Day.. Yeah .. It's Achievable with any good authority site

My best blogs used to make 2-3k a month each promoting Clickbank products (this took a fair bit of work and testing). I tested with Adsense ads + Clickbank but the conversions were poor. I also tried just Adsense, but the earnings barely covered the hosting!! So just Clickbank was the best earner for my sites, but each site is different. Financial industry has pretty nice epc sometimes.

I wouldn't encourage relying on blog/s. With just 1 Google update and my business was almost completely wiped out overnight.

@ ppl saying they lost everything on a G update, -- if you play it safe, build only HQ backlink, you will be ok... -- that being said, building only HQ backlinks can be hard/expensive.

The internet changes extremely quickly, and even HUGE websites can be wiped out quick, so yes you can be making 10k a month on a website from ads, then to $0, BUT if you were safe about it it would not disappear over night.

Currently I really only have one blog that earns, ($200ish a month) -- used shitty keywords with low CPC...

My site was hit by the last G update, but only 3 pages were hurt bad (the three I did a lot of BH link building on) -- the rest are in the same spots they were before, if not better.

I would however aim for sites that make $500 each a month, it is fairly easily achievable, and it is achievable with not too much SEO - as long ad you do your keyword research well

I am in the process of setting up a site that will earn at least $300 a month with an investment of $100 in articles, and 0 SEO - (terms with NO competition)

I wouldnt count on adsense on 1 blog as a means to $10k a month.

Im coming to the realization that the answer to a lot of this is ... TO BE the keyword people want to rank for ;-) Not chase the same keywords and crap everyone else is already chasing.

Good luck with adsense. I will tell you this. If I ever went there again - it would be for large value terms - high value clicks - terms where google pays the publisher > $2.50 per click - and find creative ways to drive traffic in addition to organic seo. Then when the site generates consistent revenue for a long enough period of time to warrant a $3k flip - its gone.

    google is a fickle bitch

practically its possible if you know what you're doing..

There was one thread of someone who owns a authority blog and platinum adsense publisher and he is earning lot more than 10k from his blog. Forgot the name though.

I am on the same path. but due to lack of cash i am just trying to earn some cash 1st and then invest it into high quality backlinks and quality content.

Well be an authority in the "financial" topic. Have categories of each to break it down into smaller more specific stuff. And you're going for the long haul right? This is good. It's going to take a lot of work and a shitload of writing, but however if you post around 1 a day or 1 every 2 days, you'll have a collection of articles related to the financial topic. AND if your onsite seo is good and if each article is targetting different long tails, your site will get a shit load of traffic. I know there's more to this but that's all I feel like saying right now. It's late lol.

    Good luck OP!

To earn this kind of money from a single blog, you would need to become a sort of 'authority' in that niche.

+ towards the whole eggs in one basket thing, if your niche is broad enough, and you reach into tonnes of longtail keywords within that niche, this shouldn't really be such a big problem.
