Has anyone here cybersquatted and made money sucessfully and for how long?
I have my eye on a domain that is trademarked and the company is known worldwide. They bought up all extensions except for the .co
Its not really a money making or buying kw but I thought about flipping it. Its financial based...

You'd have to be careful. I don't know the exact rules, but cybersquatting is illegal here in the US. It's also frowned upon in many other countries.

I remember when someone picked up Carlos Slim's domain, and offered to sell it back to him. He was able to simply sue them to get it back, lol.

Not a good idea. They'll hit you with a C&D really fast. With your late arrival they will not necessarily be inclined to settle for a small sum for taking the domain off your hands.

It's a risky business, make sure you do not seem like you are cyber squatting.

I know how you feel. I come up with great names for sites all the time. Go to check out their availability just to find out that some asshole owns it and is doing fuck all with it.

Since when is it illegal to buy up a domain? If you try to front as the company yeah well you got another issue. . . but so what if you buy up their .co . . . people cybersquat and use others domains all the time. Misspells, etc. . .whatever buy up the domain. let em come bother you for it.

Only a decade ago, people were making a decent money with cybersquatting (especially with typo domains) but now it has been reduced significantly because of enhanced cyber laws and companies taking such infringement more seriously. Domain parking companies also don't list such domains anymore in order to avoid any legal trouble. So my advice would be to stay away from it.
