I've just started a fitness blog as a side project, I really do enjoy what I write about so motivation shouldn't be too too much of a problem. My question is, who here has a legitimate blog that they post regularly to and how much per day do you make and how old is your blog .
    Thanks

I use to run my own "legit" blog about Formula one racing. It was just for fun but i really didn't make much money, and i wasn't really trying to.

If i had tried i'm sure i could of sold some F1 stuff, some fans of F1 can spin some serious cash =]

I have many clients that run a legit blog... however they do it to make money from their real business, not to have the blog generate money in and of itself.

If you were a personal trainer you could drive a lot of business to your services through your blog.

I have a legit blog as well for a difficult niche. Most of my competition is trash, as in lack of good content and page design circa 1990, but big G loves them. #1 17 backlinks 7 years old, #2 100K backlinks 5 years old. I just have problems getting anyone to know I am there! I have limited time and no money for outsourcing. I have been posting on several forums but only one seems to be productive for click throughs. I will admit that my posting/updating is sporadic.
The funny part is that I rank higher for keywords I did no SEO for and the ones I did the work for I am so far down the list I cant get a reported ranking.
How are you promoting in general? I am not looking for a gift wrapped solution but possibly a pointer for people to know my page exist.

Well I have one I posted to regularly for a year but I didn't make any money off of it except for well the only post that I did any SEO on which was the major reason for the blog to begin with.

It's really dependent upon many things though. First, you need traffic. As much as you can. If you are monetizing via adsense, you need tons of steady traffic. Another thing you can do is build the rss sub count. This will increase the value of 125x125s, banner ads, and paid plugs. On top of all that though, it's really the niche. Is it something people are hardcore marketing to or is it just getting $0.10 adsense clicks and no interest in terms of private advertisers.

All my blogs are legit. Even the ones that have a lot of spammy looking ads. LOL

Hey if you're going to have a blog to talk about something your really interested in, then you might not always be able to make a lot of money with it. But if it's something you really like then that doesn't really matter, you can do that for fun and then have other projects that you do for money.

Having said that though, if you do a good enough job on your blog... the fitness niche can really be a profitable business to market in. You just need to work a little harder to find products that you really do want to recommend on a blog that you really care about.

i mean what's the point of having legit blog?there are army of bhatters in every possible niche, running legit blog is time wasting if you run it for the money, in other words:
    1.scrape
    2.rape
    3.backlink
    4.move on

You should keep running your blog with legitimate content, but also use BH techniques to backlink the shit out of it and promote it. Monetize with CPA offers and adsense where possible.

I had this 2 years ago in Warcraft, (there I said - the spammiest of spams)
Sites that had not been updated for 2 years were outranking me.
They had all the game details out of date, advice that didn't work anymore, everything wrong.

But because they had been there for 2 years when I started Up , never stood a chance.

I suppose that was when I learned that keyword research was EVERYTHING.
Banging against a well spammed door is the biggest waste of time and effort.

Despite getting between 2000 and 3000 uniques a month for about a year - I did not sell ONE item and made about $3 TOTAL (for the whole year) on about 5 adsense clicks.

    How bad is THAT.

Needless to say , for the last couple of years I take keyword research seriously.

I've got a few legit blogs, but I've only worked a couple regularly long term. I've not worked them like I should, too many irons in the fire, but have had success with ebay. 5 years old with hundreds of posts. Generally $10/day on the low end and can be $100/day around Christmas.

I have a couple legit blogs but they rarely get clicks. i still keep them tho because they're ranking well and i just need to try different ways to monetize. Also hadn't spent much time driving traffic or working on them in past couple yrs, but am starting to now.
As others have said, stick with it and look for some good products to promote on your blog. fitness is a great niche.

I actually run mostly "legit" blogs, my oldest one is about six years now, earns me a solid $xx,xxx income per month.
