I am thinking of going there to spend a few months and was wondering how exactly could I find a temporary job up there to support a few months living ? Ive been on google for a few days and cant seem to find any temp jobs besides office ones. Any ideas ?

I am, I'll try to help you out.

. What type of work are you willing to do?
. What are your skills?
. What ballpark figure salary are you looking for?
. How much hour do you want to make / week?
. What city are you going to stay?

Thats all I can think of right now, if you can answer these for me, I'll try to help you out.

Regards,
Mark

Well I'm looking for basic work nothing like an office job or anything. Catering or work in a hotel would sound nice since I already spent 2 months working 60 hours a week in a 5 star hotel.

Skills well besides IM i'm good with catering and retail related stuff since thats all I worked in. Im also good with tools and construction related stuff.

I'm not sure about the salary enough to live I guess and enjoy some running about. Im not really looking to go shopping or anything.

Not sure enough to keep my rent and food and entertainment costs at a steady level lol

As for city im not sure yet I was thinking on the outskirts of Amsterdam since Amsterdams apartment rent is very high.

not sure if I can help u with this but i'm coming to NL nxt summers for 2-3 weeks...wud b fun meeting u both... ;)

Definitely I can pay you the hosting then in cash for that year lol

Jake3340 all the info and regulations you need to become employed here you can find at the CWI (Center for work and income)
Also I studied in Amsterdam and are you sure you want to go there? :D
Most people come for the weed but forget it's legal in all of the Netherlands.
Like any great city the outskirts are not the most pleasurable places to life.
We don't have ghettos here, but there are some places you want don't want to go.
For example the Amsterdam Zuidoost

Also the old inner city monuments can be found in almost any major city in holland.
So i would recommend going to Haarlem. Which is another city that lyes to the west of amsterdam.
It's basically Amsterdam without the annoying bits. And it's about five minutes per train from Amsterdam.
And also has largest the largest midSize Horeca(hotel restaurant and cafe) sector in the Netherlands.
You can probably find work there easier.

I gotta admit the weed is one of the reasons I wanna move there but still I love the laid back life the people live. I heard its really friendly and relaxed. Il check if i can some work online in Haarlem. How hard is it to get a job in the Netherlands if I just go up with enough money for one months rent and food ?

What is you native tongue? If you are fluent in English you can almost always find a job in catering in the heavily tourist areas, which easily will cover your room rent if you decide to live in Haarlem.

Just walk up to the countless bars and pubs in Amsterdam and ask for a job, there are so many bars success is almost guaranteed. If not, you can alway hit me up and sleep in my office lol.

About the hotels, you might get a job if you will be shooting for 2-3 star hotels or privately run small hotels.

I was thinking of ways to help you out but there is no better way then to just walk up to these places I mentioned and ask them. Hmmm I'll think about it some more.

Yeah about Haarlem.... just heard some guy there just got his head blown off... lol

Is it possible to rent a studio flat with the wages or will I need to rent a room from people ? My native tongue is Maltese but I speak English more than Maltese in my country and also passed my English O level and not my Maltese one so I guess thats a + for the Netherlends. What about internet services there how much do they cost ? I will definitely kick back my IM career when i'm there. Also what is the average wage there for such jobs ? Would it be a good idea to visit a few employment centers once I arrive ?

If you're interested in getting your accomodation and food for free, you might have a look at helpx.net, you can work on a farm a few days a week and they'll give you a bed and food. I just checked the Holland listings and there seems to be 8 farms advertising for helpers to work on an agreement like this.

I've read they sometimes pay you a very small amount too for beer money etc.

A small studio (living room with kitchen) goes for something in between ?300 and ?600. The 300 mark buys you a pretty decent but small place while the 600 mark buys you a great place.
Let me give you an example (dutch though):

Nice something like that would be perfect. Now all that is left is to sell my boat and book the flight thanks for your help mate !

In a nutshell:
-Wages are not high.
-People are becoming more racist.
-Government wants to collect 18 billion in debt from people.
-In 2012 you will be paying 3 cents for every kilometer you drive
-Geert Wilders is going to tighten immigration and put holland on shame for the entire world.
-The entire stockmarket is not going anywhere
-2 months ago the dutch have elected for a new party, still nobody is in charge
-there are allot of traffic cameras that will snap you if you even drive 1km more then allowed, they even put the cameras in garbage cans aside the road.
-for the 2018 worldcup they are going to ask the people to pay for it, and will allow the fifa not to pay any tax, for them its free.
-there is a shitload of mentall ill hospitals in every city small or big.
-people are very friendly at start, but then u get fucked later on.
-if your skin color is not white, you are going in for a hard time.
-income tax is 52%, yeah thats right, they take more then half. They are wanting to raise it to 60
-public transport gets more expensive each year, especially the train.
-they are getting down weedshops and hoes

Conclusion: DONT COME HERE, HOLLAND IS GOING DOWN! I AM SORRY, TRY ENGLAND

Just thought of it:

-allot of the wealthier dutch settle just across the border in belgium/germany just to escape all the bullshit
-a group of people wanted to start a political part to legalize kiddie humpin

Back in the 80's holland was the place to be, now everyone that got a little bit of money are trying to move out.

True about the people voting for stupid parties. When I was a kid Holland seemed liberal, open minded, my last visit and my uncles were telling me how disgusted they were at the massive number of people who voted for a party that wants to ban/tax the turban.

Oh yeah geert wilders wants tax to be paid by women that were a burkha.

He also going to talk on ground zero, lets see if this is going to be a return ticket or single one ;-)

Holland is going back to a martin luther/rosa parks era.
