I am promoting a musician page and I was wondering aside from getting general likes and sharing the link in forums. What other things can I do to get the page/artist exposure?

Is there an application out there, don't mind if it costs money or not, that lets you suggest the page to a targeted audience on FB or another technique to put the face right in front of peoples faces so they take a look at it.

    Help would be appreciated.

Try the Facebook Ads. You can advertise to huge audience by this method. Targeting options are also available.

I've been looking into that today. How much should I spend around on the ad to get decent exposure? (Since I notice you can input your desired amount?)

largely depends on your target group, in terms of numbers, and the number of advertisers competing with you. you have to test it yourself. once you start running the campaign, you will get a feel of the cost / exposure ratio. monitor it closely so as to adjust the CPC or CPM to have the desired cost / exposure ratio.

If you're a new musician (that no one's heard of) the best thing to do will be to go after the genre of music you play. Build a fan page/twitter account across that genre as many people will be willing to like/follow that first.

Use FB ads to get people to 'Like' the page first, give some content, then promote the artist. Create some professional tracks, and 'leak' them with to followers. If the tracks are high quality, it will go viral among the fans. When the following starts to grow, start building a list.
