when taken a video on my mobile it comes out tall and narrow (when filming with the phone in vertical position). Is there any way of stretching it out so it fills the screen so it looks normal? i.e. so that it doesn't look like amateur rubbish when i put it on youtube?

That can be a issue with taking video via phone. If you have a mac, download final cuts pro for free. You can chop it up and resize the sucker. Not sure how great it will end up, but I would go that route.

Why not just hold the phone horizontally?

adobe has premiere you can try that for free i think or it's like $20 a month or something. It's high end editing shit, but I'm sure you can navigate it. Adobe premiere was like a 700 program now they offer a subscription based fee thing. Try fiverr too. Prob find some good editors that you can work with.
