Any value in Wikipedia links for rankings?

Hi,

I know Wikipedia is nofollow but I thought there will be still some value in it. My link was added as reference 9 days ago (exact anchor) but no boost at all. Is it really useless?

Thanx

If you don't find any use for it, I'll take it :)

Well there is a little benefit from it - some direct traffic. I guess it depends on popularity of Wikipedia page itself and how many other sources are mentioned though. Just a few people a day in my case, but for rankings I am very disappointed so far because I SO was excited about it.

Despite being nofollow, contextual Wikipedia links send a powerful semantic signal: if they stay there long enough, it means the link is relevant to the Wikipedia article and no editor removed it. IME Wikipedia links that stay for 6+ months are powerful links. But they don't work for churn n burn, as they get removed quickly by editors.

You just made me feel better, thanks! No churn and burn yet, nice content + Adsense only :)
