Sorry if this is the wrong forum. I wasn't sure where to post it. I need a tool that does the following: - sniffs outgoing IMs from MSN messenger for all computers on my network - Needs to run on my computer, but detect the IMs on other computers - I don't care about incoming IMs. I know that's harder to sniff anyway. - I don't care about password cracking. I know that's very tough with programs like MSN. I just need to sniff outgoing MSN IMs from computers on my network without needing to install the program on any computer other than mine. Basically, I want a file with all the (unencrypted) IMs that were sent outbound from the computers on my network. I googled but found a few programs that sound too good to be true with no reviews and probably aren't clean. BHW seems like the kind of place to ask this question Thanks.
All depends how much access you have to the network, on a standard switch or router you can just run wireshark and expect to see any of their traffic unless it is broadcast, you either need to ARP poison all the hosts or if you have access to your switch and it can be configured then you might be able to set a sniffer port for each active port (all traffic generated in/out will then be sent to the port of your choice) even then you can run wireshark with filters to sniff just certain ports (the msn ones) but then you are going to need to make use of the data.
I have Cain and can do ARP poisoning, but the stuff it sniffs from MSN is garbled or encoded or whatever. That's whY I was asking i ft ehere are any programs that can specifically help with that.
I already done it with Cain & Abel and ARP cache poisonning too but you can do it easier with MSN Protocol Analyser and Switch Sniffer. Here's a share for MSN Protocol Analyser http://rapidshare.com/files/377136574/MSN_Protocol_Analyzer.rar and also a share for switchsniffer + patch there http://rapidshare.com/files/377135911/switchsniffer_and_crack.rar Let us know if it's working well.
