If that were the case, I'd have "up-scaled" all the 144p videos which were shot on my Nokia phone a decade ago and turn it into 8K format.

It just increases the file size and requires more bandwidth to stream online with zero added benefits.

yea that probably isn't the case for 144p videos, but I think there really is a difference from 720p to 1080p.
