Honestly I don't think it looks ugly. Beautiful more like it, that's your lab man, you are a scientist. Genius's are messy, they don't have time to worry about cleanliness / neatness.

I would take pride in that setup, and add MORE MORE MORE MORE WIRES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Flexible tubes, twist ties / zap strap, grommits (sp?) leading through the desk, hide it all behind a backboard, that kind of shit. I don't care about wires personally, but when there are people to impress over (gf)...

If you have loads of cables, you should probably draw out how you'd like the place to look first, then figure out how to make that happen.

    I bought a laptop + monitor.
VMware to run 2 OS's at once.
Not very helpful to you specifically, I know, but it's like 2 comps in 1 (as long as you can buy a fast enough laptop).

    Buy more wireless devices?
Do you rly need all that hardware, or can it be simplified?

    Hi

3 pc-s are just for running senuke / and only 1 is for planing, bhw and other things... yes, I do need all this hardware and still the system isn't complete (need few more things).

about wireless - well, I prefer to have network cables. The 2 main reasons are speed and they fail not that offten.

Sometimes you can't make ugly look attractive; all you can do is hide it. If they are getting tangled then use pipe cleaners to keep them more organized. If you just don't like how ugly they are push that couch back and forget it.

Put them on a different room and remote connect the them or use wireless equipment.
I use a bunch of mac mini servers on a shelf i bought at Staples, along with the networking and storing devices, and I remote connect to them from my laptop, so my desk is nice and clean :)

It'd look 10x better if you just tied the chords together so they're not all intertwined and tangled with each other.

thank you for the suggestion.. have to admit - I hate remote connections and therefore avoid them as much as I can :/

why? probably because they occasionally overload systems and in general make them slower (but I might be wrong).

    :/

Companies like Belkin make cable racks and cable management devices. I used to sell them. Not sure if you're in the US but google it.
    An example would be this

    FUL1_F4D323.jpg

But you can go way over the top with floor standing racks like this:

What I would do is start with one machine and tie the entire thing up. All the monitor cables tied together, which are in turn tied to the computer they are attached to. Make sure you are doing at least four spots along the cables to ensure they are staying together and neat.
Once you have all the Power Cables, and the likes done, move on to the Keyboard/Mice. For those I would use Wireless Personally, but you will do it just like the other cables. Tie these into the systems lines as you did the other ones. Once this is done you can focus on the Network cables. These should be done 100% separate from all other cables to reduce RFI. Do these together with each other and make them looped neatly in a line.
If you draw it up first on some graph paper you can make it look nice. If you want to go an extra step you can get cable tubes that will make them all look like one cable, or get wall brackets to run the lines through.

Hi. Thank you for the suggestions.. As for mice, keyboards and 3 monitor cables - I'm waiting for my kvm (keyboard, video, mouse) switch to come by post.. The ebay seller is really slow as a snail :/

but it is a good thought to organize them all by types.. and yes - I will make a quick scheme on the paper.
