Finding a bunch of expired PR 0-2 domains with DA 30+ PA 30+ but no backlinks.

If I claim the domain and turn it into a blog, would the juice "reset" to 0? or would it have some impact?

    Thanks for some help.

I think it'd still retain some of the authority it had though I'd like to see some input from others on this.

Authority and PageRank is not only based on backlinks! Lot's of aspect you could consider while calculating value.

yes, DA & PA does carry value, but there's more factors like - if link is a h1 text or if its surrounded by relevant topic/text or the number of incoming/outgoing links for the page :)

If you use the waybackmachine and rebuilt the site almost exact - then yes.

Otherwise, I would find the same thing with some decent backlinks.

I haven't tested this so I am speaking from what I have done on way back, and buying them with links.

Another note... Here is what I am doing to avoid manual penalties... I only build my backlinks to domains I have 301'd. Manual penalties don't pass on and I can cancel the 301 immediately. It loses about 20-30 percent of the juice but with that tolerable risk I can use a little more black/shady grey tactics. Just saying.

Unfortunately lots of spam links can cause a high DA/PA, so make sure to check the back link profile. Another metric that I find very useful is Trust Flow (TF). It's a lot harder to fake TF since to do so you need links from authority sites. TF is therefore now my primary metric when researching expired domains.

Regarding your expired domain that has a low PR and very high DA (and Im hoping a high TF and CF) - I often search for domains with exactly these metrics. One of the reasons the metrics don't match with PR is that the original site had a lot of subdomains with links to them. Moz and Majestic Seo include the links to subdomain when generating their metrics, while PR ignores them. I have found this to be a goldmine. When you buy the domain, simply redirect all subdomains to the main domain and this causes all the back links to point to the main domain raising its PR. You could buy these domains for cheap as most people only bid based on PR.

    WRONG

and if there are no backlinks, don't waste your time. The authority will disappear very fast if it hasn't already.

Why would you buy a domain with 0 backlinks :/ That's like buying a gaming console without a controller

Personally, I only purchase domains that have at least 20 linking root domains. If there are 0 backlinks then there isn't much value in purchasing that PR 0-2 even a PR 6 with 0 backlinks seems sketchy.

I created a detailed video tutorial on buying expired domains and setting up a private blog network here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_w3I5Jhc5ak

If the site has no backlinks my thought is that you will eventually lose the Domain Authority as well. Page Rank and Domain Authority are influenced by the links, so no links = no authority.

I find it strange that the site doesn't have ANY backlinks. If the site was a PR 2 at some point it had to have some sort of link profile. These sites need further investigation in my opinion.

When I build websites for my clients, I will typically analyze a domain and do some deep level investigation when it comes to expired domains. Hope this helps.

Low PR sites that have those kind of stats AND backlinks are great. Low PR sites that have those stats but no links are fake.

PR has not been updated in over a half year. Domain authority is becoming more relevant in quickly gauging the quality of a link. Providing there are backlinks, the DA authority means more to me than PR.

Part of the main point of buying dropped domains is for their very backlink profile. If you see a domain with PR and no backlinks then just ask yourself - where did that PR / DA / TrustFlow etc come from?

You would really need to get the website to what it was before it expired so that there is still a chance of maintaining the page rank. Also make sure that the page rank is real and not fake as there seem to be more fake now days then ever before

I agree 110%. If I don't see backlinks with any expired domain yet it still shows a PR I avoid...I learned that the hard way.

make sure those expired domains haven't reached the "pending delete state" because if they do their whois record and creation date will be reset.

Can backlinks be hidden so they don't show up?
