I get the reason for unfollowing accounts due to IG's limit on total followings, however what is the reason to unlike photo's that you've liked? I see FL and Instagress and similar provide a task that can unlike, but to what gain? Does anyone use this?

I never used it actually, but the only reason I could imagine is that if you unlike someones picture and like it again later, you're going to pop up in his feed (xyz liked your picture) again.
So you provide him another incentive to look at, like and follow your feed.

That is a good analogy. I just think it's a waste of time to like and unlike in hopes the users will notice to maybe follow you.

unlike is kind of useless, but on your ig in your settings it shows a list of all likes pictures so if people want to clear that then i guess it would be usefull in that case.

Unliking may possibly give space for more likes per day if this action removes your like from the Instagram's DB, e.g. when count(+1,-1)=0. If count(+1,-1)=2, no reason no do that.

Liking twice the same person - only if you want to attract persons attention and only if count(+1,-1,+1)=2. If count(+1,-1,+1)=3, it is cheaper to just like two different pics: count(+1,+1)=2.

But I never did the tests and don't know if count(+1,-1)=0 or count(+1,-1)=2.
