I'm new to Clickbank, and while I am branching into multiple methods of promotion, banners have always interested me. I love the set and forget style. To clarify, I am referring to putting banners on websites that are NOT mine. Ie: Spending money to place a banner on someone's forum, blog, or website.

I just bought my first banner space (728x90 banner) (literally 30 seconds ago) and am promoting a product that is basically laser targeted to the niche. The cost was pretty cheap so making my money back isn't an issue, but I'd love to see a good return on my small investment.

Does anyone use like using banners with this style? I'm curious to hear how others have done with this strategy. I'd love to brainstorm with other people and share ideas (non-competing, of course)

Banners are cheap for a reason: nobody clicks on them anymore, especially when site owners put them in predictable positions (468x60 in top right corner, 125x125 in the sidebar) If you bought a banner on a blog, you'd be better of if you bought an actual review of your product on that same blog, yields much better results.

Still, do report in back with the results. I'm curious to see how it worked out for you.

Yup banner ads suck ass unless the site is extremely high trafficked. Or in the same niche as the site its on

Text ads might even be better.

Thanks for the feedback. I didn't think I would throw up a banner and make $100 a day. If I could make 2 - 3 sales a week per banner spread across a few forums, it could be an easy few hundred $ a month for not doing much work.

I will update this thread tomorrow during the afternoon (48 hours since my banner became live) with the hops, order form impressions etc.

48 hours later.. 55 hops, 0 order form impressions. Not great, but if traffic stays at this pace and I convert 1/100, i'll still make $130 more than I paid. That's about as best as I am hoping for.

    I'll keep updating.

82 hops, 0 order form impressions. Obviously, 0 sales.

Not too discouraged, as it has only been a few days. If I get to 175 without even an order form impression, I'm going to switch it up and try another offer.

Here is the way I look at banner ads. If I can break even then it's worth it to me.

If after its all said and done and you only make one sale and say that sale is the exact amount that you paid for the ad space your still ahead.

Here is the reason. The site that you have bought the banner on should have a ton of traffic going to it. Plus it should have a pr 2 or better. So you have the exposure and you now have a back link to your site.

98 hops, 0 order form impressions. I'll give this a full week before I switch to another offer since I am not seeing anything good yet.

Is your banner any good? I.E : When the user click, does he know what he's clicking?

If you have a "Make Money Now" type banner with no other info, forget it, you'll get lots of clicks but rarely any conversions.

But if you have a banner which shows conversion rates, a make money now pitch and the price of your product, well except less clicks, but higher conversion rate.

It's not a make money product. It's a hobby/fetish site and the product is the best product i could find on CB that fits the site.

Not yet. I had over 130 hops on one product with 0 order form impressions so I decided to switch the product up. When Clickbank goes live again I'll update the stats.

Second product.. 147 hops.. 0 order form impressions.

Should I keep switching products? Converting at anything more than 1/147 is kinda shitty.

Well how many hops per day are you getting? how many sales do you need to break even on the purchase? if your banner is pulling in a lot of clicks then it might be that it isn't targeted enoguh or they don't know they are going to ahve to pay for something. Maybe try one of the banners the product gives?

With the 2nd product I've been getting 40-50 hops per day

I only need 1 sale to break even. It is targeted.

And I use the banners provided from the affiliate tools for each product!
