I am in the process of starting a crowdfunding site.

    A general site like Gofundme

Has anyone here started one and have any suggestions on marketing of these types of sites.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I have the site design and back end completed just wanted some suggestions on promoting.

I have had interested people from craigslist and from social media.
They were interested in starting campaigns. But my goal is to get around 10 new campaigns per week.

    Thanks in advance

I agree. My site is going to be more for the individual that needs funding for a cause, medical or a start up.
As Kickstarter, Indiegogo and few others have carved out thatniche.

Yea I am hitting up individuals and they are actually helping to market the site for me.
The more they promote their campaigns the more traffic I get.

This is what I have been testing to see what the interest is.

I have had people submit campaigns for medical bill where they are trying to raise $5,000 and others where people need funds to start a business. Once they submit I tell them to get people to donate they have to promote to everyone they know and this just brings me more traffic.

I think starting a crowdfunding site is a really good idea right now. It's starting to blow up and the opportunity is there. Not just for starting a site, but even doing something else within that space like a review site of all the crowdfunding sites or offering services for those that want to start a crowd fund campaign but don't know how. I think though if you are starting a crowdfunding site, you gotta have a twist to it and carve out a nice little niche for it. Have you shared the site? I would be interested in checking it out and seeing how you're doing with it. Good Luck!

OP dont listen to people who haven't shown that they have tried to do this type of project. Maybe your site will take on a new spin to it that is more appealing. As a result, it will bank hard.

If this is a project that you don't mind taking a potential loss in then carve out your USP and differing elements on your (site) if you are copying the K.S business model. You're also going to require a pivotal amount of start-up capital. I would say make sure of your practical knowledge but ultimately follow your gut.

The bottom line is : As a ground rule no one can absolutely say you will or will not do well; they can only give sensible advice. & what is sensible these days anyway?
