    hey, anyone watched UFC 159?

it was a very weird event, lots of odd stuff going on.

During the main event, the champ, Jone Jones (Light Heavyweight) fractured his big toe, leaving a gaping wound and he almost passed out during the post-fight interview.

check out the break when it happened!

I watched that happen. It was nuts, I cannot believe Chael even thought he stood a chance. Also, what Roy Nelson did with his right had was INSANE.

haha, yeah it was a very odd event. Lots of fight got stopped early for either bullshit decisions by the ref or freak injuries.

there were some weird noises during some of the fights too, the audio was fucked sometimes.

yeah, and sonnen got wrestledfucked and smashed.

I was very surprised to see Healy beat Miller too.

Kongo just got cut after his loss to nelson, I'd like to see nelson fight for the title sometime soon.

anyway, there were some very good fights.

Jon Jones is going to be tough to beat, even if he moves up to heavyweight he will be a load, with his long arms, speed, and unorthodox style. But his only competition he will have is with the big boys.

Yea most of his fights are like watching a grown man beat down a little kid.

I find no reason to think that if he takes his time and puts on the weight properly as he ages, he won't be rag-dolling and hellbowing HW's melons open too. He's just too good and he and his team put it all together too well.

Now that it looks like Jones will be out for a while I think Gus should fight Machida and winner gets the next shot. Not terribly interested in seeing Machida fight him again, but if he beats Gus it'll be hard to deny him a rematch. Also wouldn't mind seeing Mosasi or maybe Glover get a crack at Jones after a couple more wins. Most likely JJ smashes them all.

Love Hendo but it would be bloody massacre.

It is true that Jones has shown himself to be incredibly dominant, even prompting people to say he's got an unfair advantage, in size and reach.

but that's all bullshit, its just fanboys crying cos their idols got smashed by jones in a brutal fashion. (shogun, machida and co)

Even with his current achievements, he still has a lot of potential, so yeah, I wanna see him at HW too when he's done at LHW (it could be soon, he just destroyed 4 champs/contenders in 12 months)

actually, Jones will be back sooner than we thought. Turns out this toe injury wasn't as bad as thought.

there were no breaks, just a dislocation. They put it back together and it will be 6 to 8 weeks until he can train again. not bad.

well, while I believe Hendo wouldn't beat Jones, it could make for an interesting fight, Evans was a wrestler, with a big overhand right.. same as hendo. Hendo just has some good setups for his overhand, as we've seen countless times.

I think Dana White is shooting for a Silva versus Jones matchup as long as Silva beats Weidman, for Jones's next fight. Silva probably has a few fights left in him and then retire so he can spend time with his family. Does anybody here give Silva anything more than a fighters chance to beat Jones if they hook up?

I believe that Sliva can pretty much KO any man that is foolish enough to play his game, but it's Jon's fight to lose if it happens. Only his own cockiness can stop him :D

I agree, but I do not think he can play his games with Jones and get away with it, it will be interesting if they do fight what his strategy will be against Jones reach advantage of 84.5 to 77.6 inches, I can't recall if Silva has faced anybody in his career with that type of reach advantage.

I wouldnt be surprised if they gave SONNEN another chance for the belt. I loved when he nearly won the 1st match with Silva but turns out he was loaded on high T. I thought he would have a good chance with Jones and he ended getting beat in his own game. However I still think the latest match was an early stoppage.

Sonnen is on the tail-end of his career. No way he gets another chance at a belt. Unless he somehow goes on a 3-4 fight win streak against top10 opponents.

He'll retire soon and focus on being a TV persona.

Early stoppage in the second fight? Sonnen got kneed in the solar plexus and went fetal, what else could the referee do?

Same can be said of Jones, he never faced striker with the speed and accuracy of Silva. And Silva is incredibly unorthodox, he does stuff no one else dare to do.

at this point of their career, Silva has a huge mental edge on Jones.

and MMA is a big mental game.

Even Dan Henderson and Joe Rogan (best seat in the house) agreed that it was an early stoppage for a title fight. Of course the outcome would probably been the same but it looks like Sonnen reacted quick and got up to talk to ref. Just sayin...

Hindsight is 20/20, I would have let the fight go on just a touch longer but it so easy to second guess the ref from your couch, and Sonnen did not put up a stink about it in the post fight interview with Rogan, so what can you say. I agree with hellnation, Sonnen would only get another chance if he goes on a winning streak and lets say fights and beats Machida, and Hendo two name fighters. I do not think Silva has a huge mental edge over Jones, he just watched Jones manhandle Sonnen at his own game and Sonnen manhandled Silva except for those few few seconds in their fight. It will be interesting, I hope it materializes this winter.
